    15. An evening ritual with relaxing habits for perfect sleep and recovery

What does a health coach actually do in the evening? In my last episode, I shared my morning rituals and healthy habits. This time, we’re moving to the other end of the day. In this episode of Healthy Habits with Lydia, I take you through my real evening routine: the little things I do to slow down, take care of myself and prepare my body and mind for sleep. I talk about: • my personal evening rituals
• how I wind down after the day
• my relationship with screens in the evening
• light, sleep and our circadian rhythm
• reading and journaling before bed
• creating a calm sleeping environment
• the habits I avoid late at night
• why I don’t believe you need a perfect evening routine to sleep well Because healthy living isn’t only about what you eat or how much you exercise. The small things you repeat every day matter too. And maybe your evening doesn’t need a complete makeover. Maybe there’s just one small ritual you want to take from this episode and try for yourself. Want to work on your healthy habits more deeply? My 4-week Evergreen Health program starts October 1st. We’ll explore four foundations of health: movement, food, stress and sleep. Most importantly, we’ll look at how to actually turn what you know about health into habits that work in real life. If you want to join me, you can find all the information about Evergreen Health on my website. And if you enjoyed this episode, follow Healthy Habits with Lydia so you don’t miss the next one.

    14. Create a morning ritual with healthy habits to start your day with good energy

Do you check your phone before you’ve even properly opened your eyes? Rush through your morning? Or feel like you need an elaborate 5 AM routine to start your day in a “healthy” way? A healthy morning doesn’t need to be perfect, productive or filled with ten different wellness habits. In this episode of Healthy Habits with Lydia, we’re talking about how to create a morning ritual that helps you start your day with more energy, intention and calm without turning your morning into another list of things you have to do. I share some of my own morning rituals and the healthy habits I like to come back to, while also looking at why the way we start our day can matter. From getting outside and moving your body to meditation, mindfulness and staying away from your phone for a little longer, small choices in the morning can influence how you feel and behave throughout the rest of your day. In this episode, I talk about: the difference between a morning routine and a morning ritualwhy I prefer rituals that can change depending on what I need that dayhow to create a morning that feels intentional rather than rushedwhy your phone might not be the best thing to reach for first thing in the morningmorning movement and getting your body moving naturallyspending time outside and connecting with natural daylightmeditation, mindfulness and creating a calmer start to your daychecking in with yourself instead of immediately focusing on the outside worldhow your environment can make healthy choices easierbuilding healthy habits without relying only on motivation or disciplinecreating a realistic morning ritual that fits your actual lifewhy a healthy lifestyle doesn’t require a perfect wellness routine This isn’t an episode about waking up at 5 AM, having an ice bath, doing an hour of yoga and drinking the perfect green smoothie before the rest of the world wakes up. It’s about something much simpler: creating a little space between waking up and rushing into your day. A morning ritual can be five minutes or an hour. It can be movement, journaling, meditation, breakfast, stepping outside, drinking your coffee without your phone or simply taking a moment to notice how you’re feeling. What matters is not copying someone else’s “perfect morning routine”, but finding a few sustainable habits that support your own physical and mental wellbeing. Because healthy living is rarely about doing everything right. It’s about the small things you repeat consistently — and learning how to make those things work in your real life. If you’re interested in healthy habits, behaviour change, holistic health, natural health, mindfulness, stress management, sleep, movement, nutrition and creating a sustainable healthy lifestyle, this episode will give you practical ideas to experiment with in your own mornings. A little challenge for tomorrow morning Before automatically starting your usual routine, ask yourself: What would help me feel good this morning? Choose one small ritual and start there. Want to take your healthy habits further? If you want support with creating healthier habits that actually fit into your life, you can work with me through my 1:1 health coaching. I’m also creating Evergreen Health, my four-week programme focused on the foundations of a healthy lifestyle: movement, food, stress management and sleep, combined with the psychology of building habits that last. You can find my coaching, programmes and more about my work at lydiamaertens.com. And if you enjoyed this episode, follow Healthy Habits with Lydia on Spotify so you don’t miss the next one and send this episode to someone who could use a slower, healthier start to their mornings.
