The Work-Life Balance Project is a series of episodes all about uncovering how working parents manage to succeed in their career without sacrificing their family. Each episode is an interview with a parent who is also a working professional, leader, innovator, or entrepreneur. Through interviews with them, you'll learn insights about how to better balance your work and your family.
WLBP Episode 8 Sarah Clark - Business and Babies
This week's episode is a different take on "The Work-Life Balance Project." Stephen's wife, Hannah (@freckledhan), interviews Tom's wife, Sarah (@thedaintypear), about what it's like to be a mom of five children while supporting her husband's dream of starting his own company. Hannah and Sarah talk about everything from business to babies with a few ideas on how to not lose sight of yourself while constantly serving those around you. We hope you enjoy this interview and learn a thing or two along the way!
WLBP Episode 7 | Tom Clark - Create the Life You Want
This week's interview is with Tom Clark, Chairman and Founder of the reputation management company, Banyan. Tom started Banyan four years ago as Social Dental, and the company has been a huge success, almost from the beginning. As if running a startup worth millions of dollars isn't enough, Tom and his wife Sarah are also parents to five kids ages five and under!
WLBP Episode 6 - Good Things Take Work with Alex Weaver
It's been a couple months, but we're back with a new episode!
Alex Weaver is a regional sales director for Legrande North America and has some great advice on how to manage your work and your family.
WLBP Episode 5 - Be Present with Grant Collard
Grant Collard is founder and CEO of the property management and real estate investment company Redstone Residential. He started his company shortly after having his first child, and in the think of the financial crisis. Despite the challenges, he has grown the business every year and has found great success. He and his wife Kristen, who has an entrepreneurial itch of her own, now have three kids. Grant talks about he has learned to manage his business without leaving his family behind, and how he has even used it to teach and bond with his children.
WLBP Episode 4 - Evaluate Your True Goals with Sarah and Jed
There are many ways to find a balance between your work and your family. In this week's episode, I interview Sarah and Jed Brinton, who each work part-time at a law firm in order to have more time with each other and with their three kids. They have great advice about evaluating your true goals and then making the necessary changes to reach them, even in they are unconventional.
WLBP Episode 3 - Value Your Time with Cristi Gleason
Cristi is an accounting professor at the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business, and a mom to three incredible children. Work-life balance took on a completely different meaning for her when her husband, Rick, passed away in 2008. She's learned to calculate the value of the time she gets with her family and weigh it against the cost of things like cleaning, yard work, and cooking. She has some amazing insights into how she chooses which things in her life must be sacrificed. Let me tell you, it's not her work or her family.
What a great podcast! Really interesting interviews that provide real benefit to me and my family. I highly recommend it!
Great new podcast
Stephen is an engaging interviewer. His optimism, energy, and enthusiasm for family, work, and life in general clearly shine through. I appreciate his notion that family commitments can give focus and clarity to a career, rather than detracting from it. The first interview, "Applesauce Stories with Tyler Carr" was a great beginning--very human, believable, and interesting. I'm looking forward to future episodes!
