The Republican Bill Maher

After listening to over 30 episodes I feel like I have a strong grasp on this show.

I like the free forum feel of The Wrants, from episode to episode (which they release a lot of episodes) is different and not a traditional model of talking about politics, or sports, or hobbies. I honestly think it’s whatever they last see on their computers is the topic for a show. So in the vein of Seinfeld it is really a show about nothing.

The one guy l, believe his name is Matt is like the Republican Bill Maher, he tends to give liberals a pass and trashes his own party, which is the Republican Party. I view his politics as far-right of me, but I appreciate that he isn’t a talking head like other political hosts.

I’m giving this show three stars, because it’s very entertaining, funny and episodes are short, my complaint is the lack of thought from both hosts at times. Depending on the episode, it’s very obvious that they’re grasping to talk about a subject they have no information on, and it can become painful to listen to one trying to pull the other one along into the episode, or shallow takes and jokes just to get thru the episode.

Once they become more focused on the topics they present and well versed in what the other host is talking about this show will be a 5 star for everyone that can handle their politics (which is all over the map) and their humor (quick-witted, edgy, and funny).

Pure Gold, when….

This show is one of the best when they stick to the random stories. In just the past week they discussed a random Christian band but tied it into their kids showcasing their age, as a parent we have all been there, and, as I’m writing this review they just released an episode a Kid Rock riot, which was so enjoyable. The problem with this show is when they spend days on the same topic, like this week talking about Bethel church for several episodes, I don’t need you guys to tell me that Christian churches are corrupt and crazy, it just becomes long in the tooth day after day, they did the same thing with Roe Vs Wade, the Uvalde School shooting, & The January 6th hearing. If I want to listen to the same topic day after day, I’ll watch msnbc. I tune into this show for the off the wall stories & news stories I won’t hear elsewhere.
