    The5 with Levon Williams of Rooted in Equity

    Levon Williams, Change Agent and Capacity Builder of Rooted in Equity, joins The5 to talk about being an Inclusive Change Catalyst.     Levon Williams (he/him) is a consultant, facilitator, change agent, and capacity builder. He is a passionate thought partner & institutional organizer, guiding organizations through the process of transformative change as a part of his consulting firm Rooted in Equity. Levon was formerly a Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) Senior Fellow for the American Alliance of Museums’ Facing Change Initiative, working directly with boards of directors to create more inclusive and equitable board cultures. He also served as a Lead Mediator at the Community Justice and Mediation Center in Bloomington, Indiana where he was trained in Community Mediation and Restorative Justice practices.   Since 2019 Levon has collaborated with nonprofit & philanthropic leaders and staff in support of operationalizing their equity, inclusion, and antiracism goals and disrupting systems of oppression. Levon holds master's degrees in Nonprofit Management and Arts Administration from Indiana University. Implementing adaptive Leadership strategies, systems thinking, and self reflection in service of collective liberation are his jam.   The5 is a celebration of the work being done by nonprofit professionals, highlighting valuable tips and methods that nonprofits should be utilizing.  The5 is aptly named as NMBL Strategies celebrates our 5 year anniversary.  Host Eric Moraczewski leads guests on a journey of topics that are of deep importance to the guest and discusses how nonprofits and nonprofit leaders can benefit from the experience and expertise.

    The5 with Joy Nathan of the THGAAC

    Joy Nathan, Executive Director of the Texas Holocaust, Genocide, Antisemitism Advisory Commission, joins The5 to talk about Engaging State Organizations/Commissions for Support.  Joy brings her immense experience working with groups across the state through partnerships, funding and more.   Joy is a proven executive with a demonstrated track record of achieving results. A recognized leader in managing nonprofit and political organizations, and strong relationship builder with a focus on donor solicitation and strategic implementation.    Joy has been the Executive Director of the THGAAC for nearly 5 years (almost the same amount of time as NMBL has been around).  In her role with the THGAAC, she leads the fulfilment of THGAAC's duties in supporting public education and awareness of the Holocaust, other genocides, and antisemitism in Texas by: * Conducting a biennial study and submitting a report on antisemitism in Texas to the governor and the Legislature * Providing advice and assistance to public and private primary and secondary schools and institutions of higher education in Texas meeting with and providing information and assistance to public and private organizations * Compiling a list of volunteer speakers who have agreed to share their knowledge and experiences regarding the Holocaust and other genocides annually coordinating events in Texas * Memorializing the Holocaust and other genocides and soliciting volunteers to participate in commemorative events * Collaborating with groups to support efforts to recognize International Holocaust Remembrance Day and making recommendations on whether it should be a state holiday   Prior to her time at the THGAAC, Joy has held roles with Food+City, Shalom Austin, and AIPAC.  Joy received her BA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from The University of Texas - Austin.     The5 is a celebration of the work being done by nonprofit professionals, highlighting valuable tips and methods that nonprofits should be utilizing.  The5 is aptly named as NMBL Strategies celebrates our 5 year anniversary.  Host Eric Moraczewski leads guests on a journey of topics that are of deep importance to the guest and discusses how nonprofits and nonprofit leaders can benefit from the experience and expertise.

    The5 with Jose Marroquin of the Society of Actuaries

    Jose Marroquin, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager of the Society of Actuaries, joins The5 to discuss Engaging and Sustaining Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.  Jose dives into this topic to look at how groups can go beyond a surface level DEI approach to better embed DEI into their culture.   Jose believes in leading with his values, participating in life long learning, and being an advocate for equity. Currently, Jose is the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager at the Society of Actuaries. Previously, he served as the Director of Student Affairs, within the Nursing School at Loyola University Chicago.   In addition, Jose has acquired leadership board experience while serving with the ALPFA Chicago Professional Board, OMD Chicago Associates Board, and the ACPA Latinx Network.     The5 with Josh Wilson of Mission: St. Louis

    Josh Wilson, Executive Director/CEO of Mission: St. Louis, joins The5 to discuss Getting Off The Ground.  Nonprofits, like their for profit counterparts, launch everyday... some succeed and grow, others remain small for years, while others shut their doors.  Josh started Mission: St. Louis over 15 years ago and has grown the organization significantly in that time.  Josh joins The5 to share tips on that growth.     Josh is the Executive Director and Founder of Mission: St. Louis. He loves spending time with his family, fishing + all things LSU.   As founder and president of Mission: St. Louis, Wilson oversees a team of staff and volunteers who tackle breaking the cycle of poverty on several fronts – education, employment, and community. Now in its sixteenth year, the organization assists people of all generations.     Corporate Giving varies from one organization to another, but should always be a part of a nonprofits plans. Julio Suárez joins The5 to talk about five key things that nonprofit leaders should understand about corporate giving – including the different corporate giving models, the role that corporate giving plays as part of a nonprofit’s development strategy, and more.    As Managing Director at DRiWaterstone Human Capital, Julio's priority is to match purpose-driven leaders with purpose and mission-driven organizations and teams! This includes private foundations, community foundations, nonprofits, social impact enterprises and ESG/CSR teams. Julio brings over 15 years of experience within the philanthropic, social impact, corporate responsibility and diversity, equity & inclusion fields. In fact, he's led two corporate foundations in his career, where he oversaw grants totaling over $10M/year. Julio also has extensive experience partnering with brand marketing teams and nonprofit organizations to develop cause marketing campaigns that help connect brands with consumers and generate donations for the NGOs.     The5 with Todd Hovermale

    Todd Hovermale joins The5 to talk about Building Effective Relationships.  Critical to every nonprofit leader, Building Effective Relationships should be a focus for both internal and external constituents, both up and down your organization from your board to your volunteers.     Todd Hovermale has had a long career in banking, an industry critical to building effective relationships due to its commodity based nature, most recently working for Regions Bank as their Commercial Banking Leader.  Prior to that, Todd held roles with JP Morgan Chase with his last role being as Executive Director.     Todd lives in St. Louis with his large family (we're losing track if it's 7, 8, 9 kids, he might be too).  Todd received his BA in Economics from the University of Illinois and his MBA from Northern Illinois University.     The5 is a celebration of the work being done by nonprofit professionals, highlighting valuable tips and methods that nonprofits should be utilizing.  The5 is aptly named as NMBL Strategies celebrates our 5 year anniversary.  Host Eric Moraczewski leads guests on a journey of topics that are of deep importance to the guest and discusses how nonprofits and nonprofit leaders can benefit from the experience and expertise.

    The5 with Zac Harmon of The World Affairs Council

    Zac Harmon, CFO of the World Affairs Council Dallas Fort Worth and award winning musician, joins The5 to talk about Juggling Two Professional Careers.  Zac talks through his history balancing an incredible international music career with his accounting career that transitioned into nonprofit leadership.   Leading a nonprofit is a lot of work, add in another career, like so many nonprofit leaders end up doing, and it can wear on an individual.  Zac talks through how he handled this effort and grew to be incredibly successful in both careers. Beginning his musical career in Jackson, MS at the age of 16 Zac Harmon never settled for one path.  Despite a career of awards, countless tours, and multiple album releases, Zac never settled for an individual path.  Zac pursued his career through accounting with major accounting firms before transitioning into a nonprofit role eventually leading the Old Red Courthouse Museum in Dallas, TX before taking over as CFO of The World Affairs Council Dallas Fort Worth.  Zac continues his dual career, with travel dates through France scheduled for later this year.     The5 is a celebration of the work being done by nonprofit professionals, highlighting valuable tips and methods that nonprofits should be utilizing.  The5 is aptly named as NMBL Strategies celebrates our 5 year anniversary.  Host Eric Moraczewski leads guests on a journey of topics that are of deep importance to the guest and discusses how nonprofits and nonprofit leaders can benefit from the experience and expertise.

    The5 with Jackie Dace of St. Louis Artworks

    Jackie Dace, Executive Director of St. Louis Artworks, joins The5 to talk about Stable Income and Budgeting.  Jackie leads listeners through her own significant experience with museums and nonprofits and working through balancing long term budgeting with funding that only provides for the short term.     Jacqueline K. Dace is the Executive Director with St. Louis Artworks, in St. Louis, MO, overseeing the creation of numerous public art installations throughout the city. Dace previously served as deputy director of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center; director of internal affairs and interim executive director at the National Blues Museum; project manager for the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum in Jackson; collections manager at the DuSable Museum of African American History in Chicago; curator of African American history at the Missouri Historical Society and adjunct professor of Afro-African American Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. Dace is a recipient of the Hollywood Black Film Festival and Kansas City Film Festival Awards, as well as the National Arts Strategies Fellowship. She participated in the inaugural Public History Institute, developed by the Gilder Lehrman Center for the Study of Slavery, Resistance and Abolition and the National Museum of African American History and Culture, held at Yale University. Dace has served as a practitioner with W. K. Kellogg Foundation’s Racial Equity program and graduated from the Jackson Division of the FBI Citizens Academy. Dace was selected to participate in the first American Express Women in Music Leadership Academy, 2018, held in New York City and is the recipient of the 2019 Ohio Valley Regional Emmy for the documentary. “Mandela: Prepared to Die”. In 2022, Dace served as an Outstanding Alumni speaker at the Undergraduate Ceremony, for the College of Arts & Sciences at Webster University. In 2023, Dace received the Museum Leadership Award from the Association of African American Museums and the Distinguished Alumni Award from Webster University. Dace currently serves on the Design Committee for Delmar Main Street is currently a member of Webster University’s College and Humanities and Social Sciences Advisory Board. She’s additionally served on several committees for the Organization of American Historians, the National Council on Public History, the Oral History Association, the Annual Meeting of the American Alliance of Museums and is a former board member for the Association of African American Museums.   The5 is a celebration of the work being done by nonprofit professionals, highlighting valuable tips and methods that nonprofits should be utilizing.  The5 is aptly named as NMBL Strategies celebrates our 5 year anniversary.  Host Eric Moraczewski leads guests on a journey of topics that are of deep importance to the guest and discusses how nonprofits and nonprofit leaders can benefit from the experience and expertise.
