Day 3 | Her Diary | video podcast | Short story 3 Hello everyone, I'm Theva Kiruba. Welcome to today's 'Her Diary' segment. I have a small story to share with you. Two friends were given equal plots of land and enough bricks to build a house. The first friend started immediately. He kept working without taking any rest, regardless of whether it was raining, sunny, or if he was struggling. He simply didn't take a break. Others watching him would say, 'Why don't you do it tomorrow? Take a rest today. You can do it tomorrow or the day after. You have plenty of time.' But he didn't let that bother him. He kept his head down, focused entirely on the work he had started, and kept moving forward at his own pace. One year passed, and he completed the house. Once it was finished, he moved right in. The second friend, however, decided to wait for the 'perfect day.' He told himself, 'I’ll start when the weather is cooler,' or 'I'll start when I have more energy so I can lay one hundred bricks at once.' He spent his days planning how magnificent his house would be, but he never picked up a single brick. A year later, a massive storm was forecasted. The first friend was safe inside his finished, sturdy house. The second friend stood on his empty plot of land, surrounded by a pile of bricks that were now sinking into the mud. The lesson here is: Stop procrastinating. If you keep putting things off, small tasks will eventually grow into huge obstacles, like a giant rock blocking your path. Recently, I read a fantastic book. If you have some time, I highly recommend reading it. I’ll quote a famous line from it—if you can guess the name of the book, let me know in the comments! The quote is: 'If you have to eat two frogs, eat the ugliest one first.' Now, this doesn't literally mean eating frogs! It means that if you have two tasks to do, choose the difficult one first. Once the hard part is over, the other task won't feel like a burden at all. So, stop procrastinating and start working today!
