Juan and Gabe

This podcast is all about bringing those pop culture, nerdy things that we all love to watch, and read………and discuss them. Talk about everything, what was a good idea, what didn’t work, and what we are excited for in the future. For you hosts, Gabe, and Juan, these things already dominate our world, and we thought many of you would be excited to listen to/as well as participate in great conversations!

    TOTLB 531 Predator Badlands

It's time to take the podcast back to the Yautja's in the latest film in the Predator universe! This time though, the Predator's aren't on earth, nor are they hunting any humans, and there isn't a meaningful human to even speak of in this film!  " Predator: Badlands (2025) is a science fiction action film directed by Dan Trachtenberg that shifts the franchise focus by making a young, exiled Yautja (Predator) named Deck the main character. Set on a dangerous, hostile planet, Deck must prove his worth by surviving and hunting, eventually forming an unlikely alliance with a Weyland-Yutani android named Thia" It was always going to be a little tough to follow up the success of Prey which was the AMAZING Predator film that came before this one! BUT, while probably not as good as that movie, this still is not a film that you should sleep on! With Rotten Tomatoes scoring it in the high 80's, I promise that it's at least worth a first watch. While Prey was a fantastic movie, I will say that this film does a better job at opening up the universe to different worlds and to different species. It does well what the latest Alien show did well, which means that these movies don't always necessarily have to be Alien or Predator heavy, they can rely on some other cool monsters too!! TOTLB 530 Iron Lung

For today's episode we are exploring a brand new film maker, but not new to the industry of entertaining people! Markiplier is undoubtedly one of the top performers on the Youtube platform right now, and he decided to fund his own film, Iron Lung! This is of course based off of his popular video game, of the same name.  " Iron Lung (2026) is a sci-fi horror film written, directed by, and starring Mark "Markiplier" Fischbach, based on the 2022 game. It follows a convict named Simon tasked with piloting a claustrophobic submarine through an ocean of blood on a desolate moon, searching for clues following a catastrophe known as the "Quiet Rapture" Now, to be frank, I will say that I believe that most of the high viewer rating comes from those fans of his who are already familiar with who he is, and what his style of performance is like. We, the hosts of the show, probably tend to side more with the critics on this one. That doesn't mean that this was somehow a failure, as I'm sure his followers spent a lot of money checking out the movie, and just by putting out a movie he accomplished something that many of us never will be, but you can definitely tell this was his first real try at the craft. As always, you should definitely go check it out and make up your own mind!
