Thinking Spatially

Love the Thinking Spatially podcast! I started listening a few months ago to boost my geographic knowledge and it’s made it into my regular rotation of podcasts, which is a hard thing to do with so many interesting podcasts out there. Keep up the good work Dr. Kerski!

Dr. Kerski is THE international GIS/Geography evangelist. If you want the absolute expert and the geographer with the most experience and connections, Dr. Kerski is the best. No one is more productive than him and he does it all with such passion and joy. Bottom line: if you want to know about geography and GIS, you have reached the pinnacle in this series of podcasts.

I am currently a geography undergrad at the community college level and this is the type of hermeneutical material I’ve been waiting for! Geography is such a neglected area of thought and study in America; it’s borderline criminal. Out of the thousands of students at my school, there are only about 5 geography majors. It can be stigmatizing but podcasts like these by professionals help keep my geographic education in a wider context. Huge thanks to Mr. Kerski for bringing geographical dimensions to the podcast airwaves, I have been reading his work for a while and glad that he’s now doing audio episodes. My twenty minute commutes to work went from pure banal platitudes to being engaged with my academic discipline. I hope geography podcasts catch on, I would absolutely love for Jerry Brotton, Mark Monmonier, Kenneth Field, or any other wonderful geographers/cartographers to start a cartocast!
