    ep. 23 the luxe life

Welcome Back to another episode of thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out Although the month of March is over, this episode was tapped during Woman’s History month so I had to close it out with an episode focusing on normalizing luxury for Black women. At the start of the episode I give a shout out to all my April babies as well as showed some love for the best and first zodiac sign ever, ARIES (my birthday was April 3rd).  I also opened the show talking about Earl Simmons aka Dark Man X  (Rest Peacefully DMX) and the influence he had on me and I leave you all with a mini mix of his, at the end of the episode. On this episode of thirtyish; I wanted to talk to Black women who knew a thing or two about luxury. Not just label wearing but those who take luxury on as a lifestyle; from fashion, travel and their life experiences.  Maya Matthews (@feelingsnfiascos) Ashanti Iman (@ashanti_iman) Brittany City (@brittanycity) and Jasmine McQueen (@jasmcqueen11) join me as we discuss all things luxury including our conversation about normalizing luxury for Black women. Luxury defined (9:08), I was born into luxury (18:02), being alive is the occasion (29:39), navigating luxury (32:30), tax bracket talk (36:30), Black luxury designers are the new wave (44:25), trendy vs. classic fashion (52:50), Birkin bag talk: match my fly, match my energy (58:35), shopping while Black (1:09:00), watching reviews, influencers to know and affording luxury hacks (1:18:00), Advice- JUST DO IT (1:29:40) and as promised a mini DMX mix (1:45:50). As always I had so much fun recording this episode and speaking with Maya (Youtube Channel: The Lounge with MayaFiasco), Brittany (Youtube Channel: Brittany City), Ashanti (Aun'Tee's Plant Based Kitchen @aunteespbk) and Jasmine (Youtube Channel: Jas McQueen). ep. 22 picture perfect

Welcome back to another episode of Thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out. I hope you all enjoyed last week's episode; having the wives on was such a pleasure. When I tell ya'll your girl was taking notes...so I too can marry a GOOD Black man. If you haven't listened to the episode please do because those ladies dropped some serious gems and squashed a lot of myths. In this episode, ep. 22 Picture Perfect, it's kind of like an extension to last week's episode; I'm talking to my longtime college friend, my Qween, LaToyia Carpenter (IG: @prayher_holic and FB: Toyia Toyia), an attorney, mother and a recent divorcee. If I talked about marriage and what it means to be a "wifeable woman" then I had to bring you the other side of marriage, which is the reality for some, DIVORCE. Toyia's story is one only she could tell so I was honored she wanted to give the audience an insight on her new normal. We hope this episode helps anyone who may be experiencing this chapter in life, who has thought about the grass being greener and those who want the "picture perfect" fairytale. 80/20 the picturesque view (8:28), checking off boxes (14:00), I wore resentment (20:20), equally yoked (24:30), horrible advice married people get (31:45), resisting reality (37:30), life after divorce (40:15), dating again (51:00), divorce changes you (56:32), lessons learned (1:02:00) and as always we end with some advice for married folks (1:07:00). I started this podcast to be transparent about my journey and I just love how it has opened up for more people to share their journeys/stories and discuss things on their heart. If there is a topic you all would like me to discuss please send a message to (@30irty_ish) on all platforms. If you would like to be on the show, please let me know. I have been enjoying meeting new people and catching up with friends I haven't talked to in awhile. As always thank you all for supporting me and Thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out until next time....LATTTAAAA!!!!!

  3. ep. 21 wifeable women

    03/21/2021

    ep. 21 wifeable women

WELCOME BACK to another episode of thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out I'm so happy to bring you all a new episode this week! Episode 20 heated blanket talk gave me the opportunity to fully notice that I am changing. I know you all have heard me say I'm ready to get out these streets and that's true but just because I'm ready to leave the game, doesn't mean the game is just going to let me win without a fight (that's what I call it when I'm still entertaining men, I have no interest in but I like the attention), in ep. 20 though I realized I'm completely over that stage of "entertaining" and I am actually stepping into honoring myself by becoming the women I fully want to be. Now I'm not saying I'm anywhere near getting out these streets (this shit is STILL ghetto) but I am speaking my truth and really blossoming into a women who can be in partnership with a man (WHEW CHYLE--it's the growth for me).  The new episode that you are getting ready to listen to, is a collaboration episode with my longtime friend Dr. Melvin Williams (@hiphopprof16 on Twitter), whose achievements and accolades are only a glimpse into who he is as a person. This episode, ep. 21 wifeable women, was brought to you by Dr. Williams himself. He hit me up about an idea to feature wives in their 30s discussing the notion of "what is wife material" and what type of women are "wifeable". Our guests for the podcast are all TSU alums: Kris (IG: @kris_kross_8 and her clothing boutique @klosetjunk), Ashley (IG: @_ashley.monique and her lash company @_lashed.by.ash) and Stephanie (IG: @blackinanntaylor which highlights Black women wearing Ann Taylor pieces) giving us the REAL tea about being a wife. I was so happy to do a show with each of them, these ladies give it to us straight with no chaser on what wifeable women possess, how they see their marriages, the role they play as a wife and how they remain themselves in their union. Melvin shares with us how he came up with this episode (3:25), the wives tell us how they met their significant other (12:14), what is "wife material" (17:55), wifeable or nah game (25:40), Ciara's Prayer (42:52), I knew he was the one (51:31), marriage vs the fairytale (1:00:00), self care routines (1:08:00) friendships and marriage (1:17:00), and as always there's some advice given by these women (1:26:00) that I had to write down for myself and I hope it gives you all something  to think about and discuss amongst your circle. This episode is definitely one of my favorites, I want to thank Kris, Ashley and Stephanie again for being on the show and sharing their stories; it means the world to me ladies. I also cannot thank you enough, Melvin for being authentically yourself and pushing me further in my work. I love you to the moon and back frennnnnnn. If there is a topic you would like discussed on thirtyish please send a DM to @30irty_ish on IG/Twitter, that also applies to anyone looking to be a guest on the show. I'm looking forward to collaborating with you all and thank you again for listening to thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out.

    ep. 19 "REAL"ity Love

Welcome Back to another episode of thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out, so happy to still have ya'll rocking with me!!! In this episode, I have my Qweens with me Jah Supreme (@jahsupreme) and Erika Niter (@empressj33), I met these ladies my freshman year at TSU and they are two of my closest friends. On episode 19 "REAL'ity Love, we examine 3 of my top reality dating/love shows (Ready to Love, Put A Ring on It and Married at First Sight) and give our unfiltered thoughts and opinions. If you have watched any of these shows you know that it's filled with drama and entertainment but also acts as a mirror. I often see myself in the past, present and future while turning on my television to watch each of these shows and I needed to know if I was the only one truly captivated by them so Jah and E came on to tell me their thoughts and of course we would love to hear from you all on Twitter @30irty_ish. We talked so damn long, we forgot we were recording LOL, we hope this episode makes you feel like comfortable to hold a mirror up to yourselves. The reality TV discussion (11:30 ), Being a real one is equivalent to you being a dumb bitch (18:20), REALity Love breakdown- Ready to Love, Put A Ring on It (21:27), Attached. This book is dope ya'll and s/o to Garrison for putting me on (36:12), Alpha and Beta man discussion (39:55), Jah does the best imitation of "Hollywood" from Put A Ring on It (47:00), Trash ass women (59:00), Sex will take you through the ringer (1:08:00), Playing in gray (1:19:00), The main event- Married at First Sight (1:45:00), we talk about if we could be on a "reality love" show and we talk about being fully present and leave some gems behind. As always thanks again for tuning in and share this episode with someone you know and follow my guests @jahsupreme and @empressj33 as well as my small black owned business @bysascha.co Love yall and until next time...LATER!!!

ep. 18 ladies night (verzuz edition)

Happy New Year everyone and welcome back to another episode of thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out. It's been a minute but have no fear I'M BAAACCCCCKKKKK. The last episode we talked about getting grounded so I took some time off to help me recenter myself; the new year always makes me feel good and when I do my most reflecting needless to say that break away was just what the doctor ordered so I could set up my shop @bysascha.co on IG. In this episode, I had a ladies night at my house with my two best friends Bre'Ann and Dominique, not necessarily for the verzuz battle because honestly we forgot it was still coming on, however we did watch it and had a lot of shit to say. So I did what every podcast host would do...bust out the mics so we could give you our review on the Ashanti VS Keyshia Cole battle lol. We start off on an empowering note, highlighting VP Kamala Harris, Stacey Abrahams, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and of course our FOREVER First Lady Michelle Obama...then we get into an emotionally driven discussion about the battle (I used a lot of profane language so if you have your kids around or some elders around listening they WILL talk about my mouth) as it pertained to woman settling, being dumb hoes, being a ride or die chick or the decision not to as well as the "production" value of the battle itself and Bow Wow's BITCHASSNESS.  We also reminisced on HS and college days which lead us to discuss and dissect Heaux Tales by Jazmine Sullivan and the journey she took us on. When I tell y'all I've been playing the album nonstop...NONSTOP. We had a moment of clarity that younger women today have more women to listen to that actually teaches them how they should be treated when it comes to a relationship and what they should get out of it. During this discussion I realized I was torn on the ideology, however I do agree with choosing you when it comes down to it. We end things off with the sad truth that Insecure  (my favorite show) is approaching its last season and how it makes us feel (cues violin). I had so much fun doing this random episode and talking my shit (I feel like I haven't done it in awhile), feel free to tell me what you think of the topics and discuss your rebuttals or approval with me on Twitter, @30irty_ish using the hashtag #thirtyish. As always thank you for listening and I'll talk to y'all lattaaaaaaaa.

    ep. 17 getting grounded

Welcome Back to another episode of thirtyish: a podcast for adults figuring their ish out. Thank you all so much for listening to ep. 16 welcome to the party...for those of you still asking "what is clubhouse?" please listen to the episode and let it guide you. In this episode, ep. 17 getting grounded, I wanted to end the year off, focusing on ourselves. Becoming grounded with yourself can lead to healing and with one of the worst years to date, I'm sure we can all use some type of solace and peace. In this episode, I am speaking with Okoye Kelly (@koydrey), an occupational therapist, intuitive healer, reiki master, owner and lead co-healer at Hands On Being based out of Dallas, TX.  Okoye and I met at TSU when she was a freshman (whew we're getting up there lol) and it's been a pleasure watching her walk into her purpose. Earlier this month, I got a chance to collaborate with Okoye on my first reiki session and it was life changing. I knew I wanted her to share what she does with you all and help guide you into your own awakenings. If you've ever had questions about what it takes to become a balanced person then this episode will help you find sources to lead you to your own answers. What is an intuitive healer (8:04), healing doesn’t have to be lonely (14:08), getting to know your true essence (17:20), chakras (20:26), crystals (22:50), difference between tarot cards and oracle decks (27:15), reiki (30:45), astrology (33:35), affirmations (35:00), essential oils (39:15), how to collaborate (40:34), my life changing experience (42:20), the mind is NOT the master (52:00) and Okoye leaves us with a few more gems (54:10). If you learned something new or this episode resonated with you please let us know on Twitter using the hashtag #thirtyish  I'm excited to announce that Okoye will also be featured on the When You Bet On Yourself series, so if you are a small business owner, content creator or someone who loves supporting black owned businesses then make sure you tune in next Sunday when Hands On Being is featured. Thank you all again for rocking with me...it means the world to me!!! As we walk into 2021, let's begin to live the life we deserve.
