    "Reparations, Bro!"

    Join Katiah & Timitri as they dive into Black History Month and the meaning that carries for black men in the modern world. We discuss the inner workings of race and how growing up surrounded by mostly caucasian family and friends can have a deep impact on one's identity. Timitri talks about experiencing racism as a child and then processing through that for the rest of his life. He reflects back on his time in the military, working in blue collar fields, and how working through his experiences has shaped his ability to parent his biracial children in a way that hopefully prepares them for the world.     Real Life, Real Advocacy, Really Random Sidebars

    In this episode, we’re diving into what advocacy really looks like — not just when it impacts your own family, but when it impacts your community and your country. We talk about why standing up for others matters, how change often starts with uncomfortable conversations, and what it means to use your voice even when the outcome doesn’t directly benefit you. We also share our deeply personal journey navigating our 2 year old daughter’s diagnosis with Kawasaki disease over a year ago — from the fear and uncertainty of unexplained symptoms, to the fight for answers, and what it means to live with the reality that her heart health will need monitoring throughout much of her childhood. This experience shaped how we continue to advocate for each one of our children in different ways. We also break down some of the current issues unfolding in our country and right here in Colorado, including ongoing efforts that could cut critical disability services and place caps on caregiving hours — policies that don’t just affect families like ours, but entire support systems that allow individuals with disabilities to live safely and with dignity. This conversation is honest, a little funny, and rooted in the belief that advocacy is not reserved for experts or politicians — it belongs to parents, neighbors, friends, and anyone willing to care loudly enough to push for change.

    And Chaos Ensues

    January 24th started out as a normal Saturday. We watched from the safety of our home as a man's life was taken tragically in the streets of Minnesota. Alex Pretti was helping a female protestor up after ICE agents pushed her down to the ground when he was violently tackled, disarmed, and executed. We wanted to start this episode talking about what's going on in the world; because frankly, how can we not when it has rattled us and so many around the country. This expands into a true discussion of safety and security for our family and how parenting through tragedy has become increasingly challenging. Join us for episode 7 as we discuss our decision to homeschool our children and what has continued to motivate us to do so--despite how chaotic and challenging it can be at times.     You asked how we got here--so here it is. In Part 2 of our religion + parenting conversation, we open up about religious roots, the beliefs and values that stuck, and the experiences that reshaped everything. We talk faith, fear, healing, and what it looks like to parent with all of that in the rearview mirror. We also share a little clarification on some things we talked about in Part 1 that may have struck a cord in each other or simply came out wrong.     Intro to Scripture Part 1: Good without God

    Episode four is here! In this episode we recap the week after spending a quiet Christmas holiday at home and navigating some interesting side quests with our 5 year old. This episode covers conversations around Religion/God and how these topics can intersect with parenting, homeschooling, and teaching kindness. Especially with neurodivergence, past childhood trauma, indoctrination, and curiosity at play. Join us as we navigate challenging discussions with each other while unpacking some major baggage around "God-talk" and how we plan to move forward from here. Things get a little heated, but we always find our way back to understanding...eventually. Side note: Because we feel so passionately about respectful/gentle parenting and the choices we make as parents, we plan to continue this conversation in a later episode as well. Stay tuned for that!     A Plant, a Community, and a Lifeline

    n this episode, Katiah and Timitri open up about their journey using medical cannabis as a holistic tool to help control their daughter’s seizures—and how it’s helped shape and ultimately save her life. The pair talk candidly about using cannabis as a rescue option when Mila's seizures escalate, the trust they've built with this medicine, and the stigma that still surrounds it. Timitri and Katiah also reflect on the incredible cannabis community they were part of in Washington state and their future goals for creating and shaping that same type of support network in Colorado.
