From Addiction to Redemption: A Couple's Story of Salvation

"I used to say to my mom that some vessels are made for honorable use and some for dishonorable use. Maybe I’m just meant to go to Hell." - Bryce De La Rosa, prior to salvation. Once known by his prison number, Bryce went from attending youth group to attending state-mandated rehab. Little did he know, the Lord was at work, drawing the rebellious sinner to himself.  Meanwhile, his future wife found herself on the same trajectory. Addiction, identity theft, computer fraud and a baby on the way, Genevieve has no thoughts about the God who made her. Join this special episode where we chat with a couple about their beautiful redemption story, a story that points to a loving, gracious Savior, who offered them mercy, instead of the justice they deserved. Their entire testimony can be found on our website under Stories of Grace.  ________________________ When this is the day you think someone you love is too far gone, keep praying. 2. Lullabies and broken cries | Infertility

    MAY 12

Lullabies and broken cries | Infertility

Infertility is one of life’s greatest trials, and brings great sorrow to those who walk that road. When we remember that God is perfectly sovereign over all things, we can find peace in blaming God - but not in a negative way. The peace comes from acknowledging that God is God, and we are not, and we can rest in the fact that he is sovereign, he’s in control, and he is good and faithful. So that must be enough. That IS enough. ________________________ When this is the day you question WHY you haven’t been able to conceive or carry a pregnancy to term, when this is the day you want to give up praying, when this is the day you feel unseen and feel that your prayers are unanswered - look away from your grief, look away from your sorrow. Look towards the God of the Universe who loves you and DOES have a good purpose for you. Rehearse Isaiah 55:8-9 in your mind, to remember how small you are and how big God is, yet he numbers your every hair. Isaiah 55:8-9 For my thoughts are not your thoughts,     neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth,     so are my ways higher than your ways     and my thoughts than your thoughts. ________________________ Resources: Holiness for the Holidays by Bret Hastings: A look at the life of Hannah Until Death Do Us Part: Meet Monika Walker Visit our shop for super one-of-a-kind designs that promote gospel centered conversations. Eyes Locked, Brains Off | Screen Time for Children

Wisdom is an attribute of God.  Because we want to cultivate wisdom in our homes, the Word of God must be central there. We strive to keep wisdom before our own eyes - but what about our children? Has the iPad or a kiddie show played babysitter in your home? The world works hard to make wisdom vanish from our sight and that of our children, replacing it with cheap entertainment. How do we teach, guide, and model for our children, that the true treasure we should be seeking, far outshines the little dopamine hits they get from screen time? ________________________ When this is the day  you long to model well, how to use technologies in a righteous manner, and you think the only possible solution is to throw away your phone and TV, video games, and ipad, don’t worry! You can keep them! It doesn’t have to be that extreme! The real solution still isn’t found there. It’s in exchanging the thrills we get from screen time, with thrills from the Lord.  ________________________ Resources: Thru the Bible with J. 4. Speeding Grannies | Forgiveness

    Speeding Grannies | Forgiveness

To be unforgiving and a believer IS mutually exclusive. It’s not compatible. If you’re a believer, you must be a forgiver. As you have been forgiven, so must you forgive.  This isn’t a controversial opinion. This is pretty standard stuff that we think most believers agree with.  But when you examine your heart - is it true? Or.. do you have a heart of unforgiveness? Which is really, a heart of bitterness. Do you hold onto slights? Do you get offended and let that offense - whether real or perceived - shape your opinions of that person who offended you? Or how you interact with them - or perhaps how you go out of your way NOT to interact with them?  That's NOT actually being forgiving. ________________________ When this is the day you are tempted to bring up someone else's sin to them - sin that has already been forgiven and reconciled - remind yourself that the very act of bringing up the sin, is sinful in itself. In fact, when you see someone who has sinned against you, and you are tempted to think of that sin - you have to be prepared to fight a quick and vicious battle in your mind. Mortify the thought. Murder it. Or as we like to say, murdify! Not the person! The thoughts! The unforgiving thoughts! Be prepared with a battle plan. A literal scripture on hand to slay that beast of unforgiveness.  ________________________ Resources: Believer's Bible Commentary: Second Edition Mortification of Spin Podcast by Carl Trueman and Todd Pruitt Visit our shop for super one-of-a-kind designs that promote gospel centered conversations.
