This Is Us Too

I have to say that Mary & Blake are THE best tv show companion podcast out there. I’ve listened to many of their other shows, but This Is Us Too is truly spectacular. The show This Is Us is so captivating and emotional, but so are Mary & Blake. Their emotional journey throughout this podcast had me in tears almost as much as the show itself. They are just as inspiring as the Pearsons. I cannot recommend these two enough. I look forward to their perspectives as soon as I finish an episode. Blake’s insight and depth to his analysis is always spot on, even though sometimes I don’t agree with his takes. He is always so educational and is willing to see every angle, whether he’s in or he’s out. Mary is the heart of this podcast and is so well loved by all. Keep up the great work you guys. You are so special to so many people, and I hope you know that.

As opposed to a generic review/overview of the entire podcast…since I haven’t listened to the entire podcast (111 episodes) yet, I will be doing an episode by episode reaction as I get the chance and as I listen… Ok first episode…I vehemently, vehemently disagree with Blake’s take that this was a 4.9 episode. It was a FULL FIVE baby! The William/Randall confrontation scene that Blake had issues with was one of the highlights of the episode! It was absolutely intentional, was meant to feel awkward and tone-transitional. Randall DOES have this prewritten ‘script’ in his head for the father who’s abandoned him and who he has put so much effort, time & expense into finding. The ‘You abandoned me! But see. But see! I turned out just fine!! See that $140K car there? I bought that! CASH!!’ Yes Randall comes in at a 10…intentionally- and William’s brilliant response/disarming of it is so great to watch. He doesn’t try and defend himself…just invites him in. Great start to one of the best series on network television! Your podcast does take the show seriously and puts forth an engaging reaction to it. Good on you. We may need more of Mary to balance out Blake’s ego & opinions perhaps but great job overall.

I consider you and Blake my podcast friends since I’ve heard every podcast of their Outlander, This Is Us, Gilmore Girls, Bridgerton and The Crown. Lol. I love you guys so much. You make me laugh and cry and get all the feels. I’ve watched your IG story as you recover from long Covid and send you love and light through the airways; however that works. And a kudos for Minute With Mary: I have been working remotely for over six years and basically stopped wearing makeup daily until I saw your IG post a couple months ago when you explained how often we see ourselves throughout the day and what a difference a little mascara and lip color will do for our reflection. A simple way to feel good about what we see in the mirror. Something about that really clicked and I’ve been wearing makeup more often especially my busy meeting days. I feel put together and my best self. Thanks to you both for your authenticity, vulnerability and all the laughs. I regret not communicating sooner because y’all have been a regular part of my life for years. Just because I’ve been a quiet fan has no bearing on the fact that your stories have impacted my life.
