Good Advice For Parents Who Give Bad Advice - Junior Golf Edition

When your kid starts playing competitive sports, something incredible happens: suddenly EVERYONE becomes a coach. Parents. Grandparents. Friends. Other parents. The guy at the driving range. Everyone has a tip, a correction, a swing thought, or an opinion. But even good advice at the wrong time can become bad advice. In this episode of THIS WITH KRISH, I talk about youth sports from the perspective of a parent raising an 8-year-old competitive junior golfer. We get into coaching, parental pressure, practice, motivation, winning, losing, tournament expectations, and one of the hardest lessons for sports parents to learn: Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop coaching and just be Mom or Dad. Your child's coach can analyze mechanics. The leaderboard can measure performance. The stats can show improvement. But home should be the place where their performance doesn't determine how they're treated. We talk about: • Why parents shouldn't automatically become their child's coach • How conflicting advice can hurt young athletes • Internal motivation vs. parental pressure • The dreaded ride-home tournament analysis • Why your body language matters after a bad shot • Helping kids handle winning AND losing • Protecting a child's love for their sport • Why an 8-year-old athlete is still an 8-year-old kid • The three questions every adult should ask before giving a junior athlete advice • Why sometimes the best sports-parenting advice is simply: let the kid play If you're raising a competitive golfer, baseball player, soccer player, basketball player, gymnast, swimmer, football player, or any young athlete, this episode is for you. And sometimes, just enjoy watching your kid do something they love. #JuniorGolf #GolfParents #YouthSports #SportsParents #Parenting #JuniorGolfer #GolfDad #GolfMom #CompetitiveGolf #YouthAthletes #GolfParenting #JuniorAthletes #LiamJrGolf #ThisWithKrish

The Truth About Inflation Every Parent Should Teach Their Kids

Remember when earning $100,000 a year meant you had truly "made it?" I do. I still remember dating a girl in college whose dad was a Vice President of Finance making over six figures. They lived in a beautiful home, drove luxury cars, and seemed to have everything figured out. Back then, $100,000 represented success. Today? That same salary tells a very different story. In this episode of This with Krish, we take a journey through how inflation has quietly changed the American dream, why a million-dollar home isn't what it used to be, and how purchasing power has evolved over the past few decades. More importantly, I share how I recently explained inflation to my newly turned 8-year-old son—and why financial education should begin long before our children enter adulthood. Whether you're raising kids, building wealth, planning for retirement, or simply wondering why everything feels more expensive, this conversation is for you. In this episode: • Why $100,000 used to feel life-changing • What inflation really is—in simple terms • How inflation affects your paycheck without you noticing • Why investing matters more than ever • Lessons every parent should teach their children about money • Practical examples kids can actually understand If you enjoyed this episode, please Like, Subscribe, and share it with someone who remembers when six figures meant you'd made it. The Balance

THE BALANCE | Work, Family, Vacation & Why Memories Matter More Than Emails What does work-life balance really mean when you're an executive, entrepreneur, business owner, or someone who genuinely loves what they do? This week, I'm recording from beautiful Maui, Hawaii, where our family spent time making memories after my son competed in a junior golf tournament at the world-famous Wailea Golf Club. But even while surrounded by beaches, sunsets, family, and paradise, I found myself wrestling with something many high achievers understand all too well: the inability to completely disconnect from work. In this episode, I share my thoughts on leadership, family, success, vacations, and the hidden cost of constantly being available. Why do we wait until lunch to call our spouse while we're working, but immediately answer work calls during family time? Why do we protect work from family interruptions, but not family from work interruptions? And why are some of the most important moments of our lives happening while we're staring at a screen? This is an honest conversation about making memories, being present, trusting your team, and finding balance in a world that constantly demands your attention. If you've ever checked your email from the beach, opened your laptop during vacation, or felt guilty for taking time off, this episode is for you. Because at the end of the day, your children won't remember the email. They'll remember that you were there. 🎙️ Subscribe to This With Krish 🌐 This Newsroom: https://thisnewsroom.com 🌐 This With Krish: https://thiswithkrish.com 📺 YouTube: https://youtube.com/@thiswithkrish 📸 Instagram: https://instagram.com/thiswithkrish 📘 Facebook: https://facebook.com/thiswithkrish 🐦 X: https://x.com/thiswithkrish 💼 LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/krishdhokia #ThisWithKrish #WorkLifeBalance #TheBalance #Leadership #ExecutiveLife #Entrepreneurship #FamilyFirst #VacationMode #BusinessLeadership #SuccessMindset #PersonalGrowth #Parenting #Fatherhood #Maui #Hawaii #WaileaGolfClub #GolfLife #LeadershipPodcast #Motivation #Inspiration

14 Years Sober: Everything Alcohol Promised Me, Sobriety Delivered

Yesterday marked 14 years of sobriety. Fourteen years ago, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life. At the time, I thought I was giving something up. Looking back, I realize I was gaining everything. In this deeply personal episode of The This With Krish Show, I share what alcoholism taught me, what sobriety gave me, and the lessons I've learned over the last 14 years. We talk about family, faith, sports, culture, temptation, recovery, and the reality that addiction never completely leaves your life. As an Indian-American, I also discuss the unique social pressures around alcohol that many people experience but rarely talk about openly. While my own parents never drank, alcohol was often glamorized in social settings, celebrated at gatherings, and treated almost like a badge of honor. Early in my recovery, I remember people laughing, joking, and questioning my decision to stop drinking. Looking back, those moments only strengthened my resolve. I also share something that surprised me: I genuinely believed I wouldn't enjoy sports without alcohol. Football Saturdays, tailgates, golf tournaments, vacations, weddings, and celebrations all seemed tied to drinking. What I discovered was that I didn't love alcohol. I loved the experience. Sobriety allowed me to actually be present for it. We'll talk about raising children who have never seen their father drink, building a marriage rooted in trust, navigating daily triggers even after 14 years, and why I know that if I ever picked up a drink again, the consequences would likely be far worse than before. Along the way, we'll explore the stories of famous athletes, musicians, actors, and celebrities who battled addiction, some who found recovery and some who tragically didn't. Most importantly, this episode is for anyone who is struggling right now, anyone who loves someone who is struggling, or anyone who needs a reminder that their story is not finished. Alcohol promised confidence. Alcohol promised happiness. Alcohol promised freedom. Alcohol promised connection. Sobriety delivered every one of those things. Thank you for joining me on this journey. All glory to God.
