The Broons & Oor Wullie: Nazi Fighters & Churchill Botherers

The Broons & Oor Wullie: Nazi Fighters & Churchill Botherers

    A Scottish Podcast About Scotland!

This week we talk about the wildly popular and beloved Scottish comic strips The Broons and Oor Wullie. We have been reading about the antics of Oor Wullie and The Broons family for generations in Scotland and you'd be hard pressed to meet someone from home who does have a special place in their heart for Dudley D Watkins & Robert Duncan Low's comic creations.

The 85 year old DC Thompson creations originated in the East of Scotland city of Dundee and have become a staple of many Scottish children's Christmas mornings.

We take you through the history of the company, the creators and the characters themselves. We also talk a lot about how they fought the Nazis. You'll need to listen to find out.

Frightened Rabbit: Chumly Bumbly, Ratbag & Jo

    A Scottish Podcast About Scotland!

This week we talk about the amazing, but tragic story of the Scottish band Frightened Rabbit.
We take a look at where and how the band started, the music and albums along the way, as well as the tragic death of the much loved and hugely talented Scott Hutchison.
As we mention at the start of the show Scott seemed to be a lovely, affable and funny man and we chose to look at the positivity that he brought into the world in a way that we hope represents his approach to life and honours his memory.
This episode does touch on some serious topics such as depression and suicide. If you or anyone you know is struggling with similar issues, we highly recommend you reach out to someone for help. Here are some of the numbers and resources available to everyone:

I enjoy listening to you boys on my way to and from work. You have inspired me to listen to more than just “I’m Gonna Be” and read several books I never would’ve reached for. Thank you for creating such a fun podcast!
