Why did Mufti Taqi Usmani declare cryptocurrency haram? ft Qanit Khalilullah | TBT Podcast

Kanit Khalilullah explains why Pakistan's debt-based banking system is a bigger trap than cryptocurrency, and how full reserve banking could eliminate domestic debt. Join the Inner Circle, my weekly letter on AI, building, and being early to what's coming: https://muzamilhasan.com/inner-circle Read the thesis, the one idea behind everything I'm building: https://muzamilhasan.com/thesis My website: https://muzamilhasan.com Kanit Khalilullah returns to explain the real crisis behind Pakistan's economy: fractional reserve banking. While Mufti Taqi Usmani's recent fatwa against cryptocurrency made headlines, the elephant in the room is how commercial banks create money out of thin air through debt, inflating the currency supply by 50% in just three years. Pakistan's domestic debt has ballooned from 5 trillion to 55 trillion rupees in 15 years. Every month, the government borrows 500 billion rupees from banks and immediately pays it back as interest, feeding a cycle that now consumes 60% of tax revenue. By 2032, debt payments will eat 93% of the federal budget. Kanit argues that full reserve banking, where the state controls money creation, could eliminate domestic debt, end inflation, and restore economic stability. This is not theoretical. His book, Breaking the Trap of Debt, Inflation, Interest, and Poverty, has been reviewed by 20 economists and bankers, including the deputy chairman of Faysal Bank and Arif Habib. The solution exists. The question is whether Pakistan's policymakers, military leadership, and religious scholars will confront the system that benefits a few at the expense of 250 million people. In this conversation, he walks through his entire journey: leaving rural Bahawalpur for the UK on a student visa, working 18-hour shifts in Amazon warehouses and gas stations, spotting the opportunity to sell on Amazon himself, and scaling one product (a V-pillow) to 1,500 orders a day. He explains how he came back to Pakistan, restarted with zero capital, and built multiple income streams in e-commerce, trading, and services. We talk about what actually works on Amazon in 2025, how AI is changing e-commerce workflows, why personal branding matters more than ads, and what the next 25 years look like for Pakistanis earning in dollars. Hafiz also shares the fraud he faced, the lessons he learned, and why he believes anyone with domain knowledge can use AI to 10x their output. In this episode of Thought Behind Things, Muzamil sits down with Ahmad Awais, the founder and CEO of Command Code, to uncover the reality of the global AI race. Ahmad shares his incredible journey from an electrical engineering student in Multan to an award-winning open-source developer who contributed to the NASA Mars Ingenuity Helicopter mission. STOP What You Are Doing and Learn Claude Code NOW! (Before It's Too Late)

Checkout the website and give me your feedback: https://muzamilhasan.com Follow me on Instagram for the new series: https://www.instagram.com/muzamilhasan I spent the last 8 years entirely away from coding, dealing with imposter syndrome and fearing that software engineers were going to leave the rest of us behind in the AI era. But over the last two weeks, my mind has been completely blown. In just 5 days, working alone, I built a fully functional platform that would have easily cost me $30,000 to $40,000 and taken months of back-and-forth with a traditional software house. And I did it all without writing a single line of code myself. In this video, I am pulling back the curtain on the true power of AI for non-technical domain experts. If you know how your industry works - whether you are a creator, a doctor, or a lawyer - you now have the ultimate advantage because the middleman is dead. In this video, we cover: • The AI Brain: How I indexed 7.5 MILLION spoken words from my YouTube channel to create an automated content machine. • The Replit vs. Claude Code Truth: Why I accidentally burned $500 in 4 days, and the 3-hour process I used (with Gemini's help) to move everything to Claude Code. • The End of Software Engineers?: Why a domain expert talking to an AI can build a better product in 5 days than an engineer can in 50 days. • The Wealth Bubble: Why you need to stop acting broke, invest $20 in your tools, and capture this massive opportunity before the bubble bursts. • The Reveal: A live screen-share of the exact platform I built with zero technical background. The "Utopia vs. Dystopia" debate is a distraction. The real opportunity is in combining these tools to solve real-world problems. You cannot afford to miss this cycle! Let me know in the comments: Are you actively building with tools like Claude Code, or are you still stuck in the "free" chatbot world? What is your use case?
