ReVision Podcast

William Howell

No matter what your age is or what your background is, we have all had a dream in our hearts. There are some where their dreams have all come true and a few have had no roadblocks to be told. Then there are the rest of us who have seen our dreams go from the proverbial back burner to the middle eye to the back burner to being cancelled. It is easy to get jaded and wonder why others seem to have everything answered for them. That is why this podcast was created - to give those a voice in the conversation that struggle with their faith, question God on their purpose, or even fight the urge to give up. The name revision is a two-part word; Re = Again.Vision= The manner in which one sees or conceives something. My goal is to help us to have a conversation of hope, determination, and to once again dream when we feel that we want to give up. am and hope.

When God Tells us to Shut Up

There are times in business and in life where God will tell us to be quiet. He will tell us to shut up. Here's my thoughts on it.  1. Zacharias Enters the Temple (Luke 1:5-11) God spoke to him through the angel Gabriel while he was doing his normal duties. God often speaks to us when we are not expecting it. God delivers the unexpected during the most unexpected times. There was no warning.2. The Promise (Luke 1:12-17) The unexpected can be unbelievable. The promises may not always line up with what we believe.3. The Unbelief (Luke 1:18) The unexpectant can be filled with disbeliefZacharias was old. Elizabeth was old. She was barren. There was no physical way for it to be possible.4. The deafening Silence (Luke 19-56) The practice of prudence should be implemented. The need to recognize that there are power of wordsThere is power of life and death in our words. The words we say can abort or build a firm foundation for the promise.5. The mute speaks (Luke 1:57-66) Zacharias was silenced throughout the pregnancy of John the Baptist. The people around him had plans for the baby. They had ideas and thoughts. They wanted to name the baby after his father. Zacharias knew what he was told. The baby would be named John. The naming of the baby made absolutely no sense. Others feel the same way about your dream/vision. It went against the grain. God's ways are not our ways; His thoughts are not our thoughts. Hence the reason that Zacharias needed to be silenced. Bottom line: God doesn't do things the way we think it should be done. Jesus was born in a stable. John was born to a barren woman. The world was created even though God knew that man would fall. God is not surprised by the dreams you have, and you should not be surprised that He may have you silenced for a season to keep you from killing your own dream.  Support the show Thank you for listening!Let me know what you think by leaving a review or email me your thoughts to will@thewilliamhowell.com. When You Want to Throw in the Towel

Anything worth building is going to be hard. You will have days when you want to throw in the towel. We are not designed to quit. We are not designed to give up. We are designed to add and to multiply.  There will be people who will come to stop you. They will put barriers in your path. They will try everything in their power to keep you from doing what you need to do.  Today we will talk about people who wanted to give up but didn't. Historically, we have seen many what we call as great leaders be people who simply tried over and over until they succeeded.  Abraham Lincoln is one of my favorite people to read about. He failed at business. He failed at politics when he ran for congress and lost including two senate and two-house seats. He failed in relationships with the loss of his first fiancée, the death of three of his children, and his wife's own struggles. Yet he went on to become a great president. When inventing the light bulb, Thomas Edison was asked about his failures. He was attributed with the quote "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."  In Biblical times, we find many characters who did not give up but persevered.  Smith Wigglesworth said "The greatest weakness in the world is unbelief. When there is fidelity between you and God and the love of God is so real that you feel that you can do anything for Jesus, all the promises are yea and amen to those who believe."  1 John 4:4 tells us that "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he is who is in the world." You cannot overcome unless you are faced with challenges. Sure, you can "avoid" those challenges, but the challenges will still come. You will always be presented with opportunities to overcome or to give up. John 16:33 tells us  that we can be assured of one thing...we will have trials but that we can trust that Jesus has already overcome them. Victory is a choice.  Support the show Thank you for listening!Let me know what you think by leaving a review or email me your thoughts to will@thewilliamhowell.com. Finding Peace in Your Purpose

When we go through rough times in life, we often feel that this is a sign that we shouldn't do something. We tend to believe that our purpose is supposed to be free from any pain, tribulation, or trouble. We can blame those problems in keeping us from moving forward in the dream that we have for our lives. In this episode, we will discuss a story that is the prime example of why we should listen less to the troubles that we have in life and more to the peace that we place before us. Believe me - this is a lesson that I on repeat in my life.  Support the show Thank you for listening!Let me know what you think by leaving a review or email me your thoughts to will@thewilliamhowell.com.
