Threads Unseen

Bloombase

This is a story of trauma - the impact it had on one family and how it rippled out through friends, family, colleagues, neighbors … those are the threads unseen. In this five-part podcast series, the Swearingen family shares their experiences of trauma and their lifetime journey of healing, almost a decade after 2-year-old Gavin suffered a traumatic brain injury. In sharing their stories, Brad and Amanda Swearingen and their daughters, Ally and Kenna, offer us a rare vantage point to what lies beneath the surface of trauma - to the threads that connect and disconnect us from each other - threads that are familiar to us all.

This is not an arrival, there is no neat bow to put on this story or this journey. But this family has proven to themselves that they can hold all that trauma delivers – the light and the dark of it. They share their greatest insights in their transformation, which is a gift to us all.     This podcast is Produced by Bloombase.   Learn more about Threads Unseen and support Brad and Amanda’s vision of a foundation for hope at thisisbloombase.com/threadsunseen   Download the Listening Guide for self-guided reflection while you listen https://thisisbloombase.com/threadsunseen-guide   Learn about Executive Coaching https://thisisbloombase.com/coaching   Follow Bloombase on LinkedIn or Instagram @thisisbloombase, and share your thoughts with us at threadsunseen@thisisbloombase.com   Join the Bloombase Learning Community https://thisisbloombase.com/learning-community     Meet your host Sheri Fella https://thisisbloombase.com/sheri-fella   Deep gratitude to the Swearingen family: Brad, Amanda, Alyson, Makenna and Gavin for their openness and courage in sharing their story and themselves with all of us.   A special thank you to family friends Jenni and Jim Taller, Jessica Leland, and Katie Abernathy; colleagues and friends: Anne Eaton, Janice Casale and Denny Warner; to Gloria Hood, licensed marriage and family therapist; countless unmentioned first responders, medical teams, therapists, family members, friends surrounding this story and this family.   Thank you to: Becky Fisher - Director and Producer Maggie Phelps - Production and Creative Direction Kent Vernon - Sound Engineering Molly Miller - Production Support Ashley Bella - Graphic Design Seth LaGrange - Illustration Stephanie Judge Cripe - Creative Consulting   And a special note to spotlight Ally Swearingen, whose piano playing you heard at selected points in the podcast series.
