Midlife Puberty: Why Your Mind and Body Are Changing - with Terri Hanson Mead

💬 message Denise Terri Hanson Mead spent decades navigating predominantly male fields, but what really captured my heart is how she redefines midlife. Terri is a commercially rated helicopter pilot, an author, an investor, and a coach who helps women go from living on autopilot to taking intentional control of their lives.  When she hit her forties, she did not experience a crisis; instead, she hit a wall of burnout and realized that the narrative about women shrinking as they age is completely broken.  We talk about her path of learning to fly, why she used to hide her dreams to avoid feeling like a failure, and how to reclaim your agency in your fifties and beyond. We discuss the invisible pressure to look perfect, the exhaustion of constantly worrying about our appearance, and how stepping away from those expectations gives us the space to finally do what fills our souls.  Terri’s perspective on midlife as a puberty of the mind and body is so grounding.  She reminds us that taking just two minutes a day to pause and breathe can be the exact permission slip we need to start making different choices for ourselves. The "Trauma Lies" Keeping You Stuck in Midlife - with Ernest Ellender

💬 message Denise Ernest Ellender, who people call the Black Belt Trauma Coach, is a former clinical psychologist who realized that sometimes we need more than just talk....we need to train our hearts and bodies like a martial artist would. We dove deep into the idea that we don't have to let our past trauma be the boss of our future.  Ernest shares about the "trauma lies" we tell ourselves just to survive childhood and how those stories follow us into midlife until we choose to replace them with truth.  It’s not just about a one-time "aha" moment; he talks about the "grind" of self-improvement and why it’s so important to actually enjoy the process and celebrate the tiny wins along the way. You’ll hear us talk about: How to spot the "trauma lies" that are secretly running your lifeWhy your 40s and 50s are the best years for deep transformationThe 20 rules for healing and making your new, healthy life feel normalPractical ways to reward yourself and change your internal self-talkErnest is such a grounded, wise soul, and his perspective on resilience and embodied strength is exactly what we need in this season of life.  Connect with Ernest here: Website: www.healfromchildhood.com * link to a free 36-page summary of my book: https://www.healfromchildhood.com/free-download  * link to the softcover in the Amazon bookstore: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CXJ5C4NB * audiobook on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3ew0H4mdwCxFvgUi168ETK?si=35ff1687a0e34aca Thank you for spending time with me today on the Thrive After 45™ podcast! Caregiving for Your Parents without Losing Your Mind - with Lili Udell Fiore

💬 message Denise Lili Udell Fiore grew up watching her father, a hospital chaplain, provide compassionate care, but she really earned her stripes during twelve years of navigating dementia and medical advocacy for her own family.  She’s here to remind us that planning for the hard stuff isn't morbid. It’s actually one of the most profound ways we can love our families and protect our own peace of mind. We really get into the heart of the "sandwich generation" reality.  Lili shares some incredibly practical (and honestly, life-changing) advice about things like the "paper on the fridge," how to handle those tricky family dynamics when not everyone is stepping up, and why it’s okay to "enter their world" when a loved one has dementia rather than trying to force them back into ours. It’s an episode full of "I wish I had known that" moments.  Whether you are currently caring for a parent, supporting a spouse, or just want to be prepared for the future, Lili’s wisdom feels like a steady hand to hold.  She helps us move away from the fear of the unknown and into a space of confidence and sacred connection. A few things we dive into: The one specific form that changes everything when you call 911How to find a doctor who actually understands the transition to palliative careReal talk on sibling dynamics and setting boundaries without the guiltLili’s "Sensory Care Method" to bring genuine joy to those with cognitive declineWhy your own self-care as a caregiver is a non-negotiable priorityThis conversation is such a permission slip to stop "forging ahead" alone and start asking for the specific help you need. The Anxiety Lie - It's Not Your Brain, It's Your Bloodline - with Kerie Logan

💬 message Denise Kerie Logan is a human consciousness guide and hypnotherapist who has spent 25 years helping people untangle all the messy parts of being human. We dive into something so many of us carry: that heavy, constant hum of anxiety. But Kerie looks at it through such a beautiful, different lens.  She explains how the stuff we’re struggling with...whether it's fear, hyper-vigilance, or just feeling totally stuck...isn't actually who we are. It’s often just a "set point" or generational energy we've absorbed like a sponge. Kerie shares some incredible stories about shifting perspective from the "victim mindset" into the "soul experience."  We talk about how our hardest relationships are actually our greatest teachers, how to stop gaslighting ourselves with toxic positivity, and why midlife is the perfect time to stop being "selfless" and start reclaiming our own power. Kerie is such a gift, and she even offers a free 15-minute consultation to help you figure out if you're ready to dismantle the walls you've built around your heart.  We riff on: Why your anxiety might actually be generational trauma waiting to be releasedHow to stop reacting to chaos and start responding from a grounded placeThe secret language of your body and how our emotions impact our physical healthWhy it is never, ever too late to learn what unconditional love really feels likeGiving yourself grace as your body and life transition into this next beautiful chapterKerie’s energy is so soothing, and her message is clear: you aren't broken, you're just evolving. I can't wait for you to hear this one. Don’t Die With Your Dreams Inside You: The "Live Full, Die Empty" Framework - with Sairan Aqwari

💬 message Denise Sairan Aqwari has the most incredible perspective on why we need to stop looking at midlife as some sort of waiting room for retirement. Sairan moved from Iraq to the United States and literally rebuilt her entire life and career from the ground up.  She spent over 30 years as a heavy-hitter in the engineering world, and then, right in the middle of her doctoral program, she realized her soul was pulling her toward something else. She actually put her PhD "in the freezer" to follow a path of coaching and mentoring other women. I love how she talks about "hidden gems"...those talents we all have tucked away that we think are only for our 9-to-5 jobs, but are actually the keys to our next big chapter.  We dive deep into the reality of changing careers in your 50s, why "male-dominated" is just a phrase we should stop giving power to, and how to stay sharp and innovative by refusing to stop dreaming. She is living proof that your 50s are your prime.  If you’ve been feeling a little overlooked lately or like you’re just going through the motions, Sairan is the gentle (but firm!) kick in the pants we all need to start taking action today. Here is what we get into: The bravery it takes to walk away from a "dream" to find your true callingHow to negotiate your worth when you have decades of experienceWhy aging is actually a privilege that grants us mastery over life's obstaclesThe beauty of living life "full" and "dying empty"Practical ways to leverage your degree for a side business or a total pivotSairan even offered a little gift for our listeners at the end, so you definitely want to catch the whole thing.  Connect with Sairan:  Website: https://www.sairanaqrawi.com/ Social Media: LinkedIn,  Instagram Thank you for spending time with me today on the Thrive After 45™ podcast! Why You’re Failing at Leadership (And the 1 Shift That Fixes It) - with Helen Wada

💬 message Denise Helen spent nearly thirty years in the high-stakes world of commercial leadership and accounting, even spending sixteen years at KPMG.  She was the person who actually avoided sales at all costs, only to realize she was naturally incredible at it because she did it differently. She did it humanly. When she hit 45, life decided to shift the gears for her.  Between the clarity of a family road trip and a sudden battle with early-stage breast cancer, Helen took the leap to stop doing things the "corporate way" and start the Human Advantage.  She’s now helping people realize that being a successful leader doesn’t mean leaving your humanity at the door. It actually means leaning into curiosity, presence, and real-talk conversations to drive growth. We chatted about some really deep stuff: The 18 months of "deep work" and decompression it took to find her footing after leaving the corporate grind. Why the "skills" we learned in kindergarten ... like listening to understand and being respectful ... are actually the most powerful tools in business today. How to bridge the gap in a world where everyone is hiding behind screens.Tapping into your own "why" so you aren't just hitting targets for someone else’s benefit.Helen is living proof that you can be successful and kind, commercial and human-centered, all at the same time.  Connect with Helen: Linked in: https://www.linkedin.com/in/helen-wada/ Website: www.thehumanadvantage.co.uk Podcast: Human Wise - Podcast - Apple Podcasts Pre-Order Book:   https://mybook.to/HUMANWISE   Thank you for spending time with me today on the Thrive After 45™ podcast! What Changes When You Finally Listen? with Cheryl Holling

💬 message Denise Cheryl Holling is a total powerhouse in the world of podcasting and voiceover work, but what really struck me during our chat was her incredible heart and the way she’s navigating life at 65 with so much grace and curiosity. We really dive into the beauty of the "un-linear" path. Cheryl’s been in the industry for four decades, yet she’s still out here launching new projects like The Voice Kitchen and 19 Stories from Fear to Hope.  She opens up about the legacy of her parents, the deep importance of truly listening to one another, and why she’s finally owning her age as a superpower rather than something to hide.  It is such a refreshing take on why our voices actually hold more weight and wisdom as we get older. We’re chatting about all the good stuff: How to define what thriving actually looks like for you (and why it’s okay if that definition changes)The magic that happens when we gather in the kitchen and share our real storiesMoving through seasons of fear and finding the hope that pulls us throughThe literal life-saving lesson of putting your own oxygen mask on firstWhy "learning" doesn't have a finish lineCheryl reminds us that we aren't just relevant...we are becoming more rooted and more powerful every single day.  Connect with Cheryl and dive deeper into her world: https://www.cherylholling.com/  Thank you for spending time with me today on the Thrive After 45™ podcast! 💬 message Denise Ever feel like you’re talking, but not necessarily being heard?  Brad Walsh, a speaker, photographer, and "soul visibility guide," has spent the last six years listening to the stories of over 800 women.  He shares the incredible shift that happens when a man stops trying to "fix" and starts truly listening to understand the things that often go unsaid.  We’re chatting about: Heart-Led Listening: Brad breaks down his "HEAR" method for holding space and listening with empathy rather than ego. The Power of Visibility: How being "seen" without the need to perform can change your entire perspective on yourself. Finding Your Tribe: Why we weren't meant to do entrepreneurship or life as a solo act. Trusting the Timing: How the universe works in your favor when you’re finally ready to receive. Brad is such a grounded, soulful human, and his perspective as a man who has dedicated years to witnessing women's truths is both refreshing and eye-opening.  Listen to Brad here on his own podcast: https://www.empowerographypodcast.com/ ✨ Big News: I also share some details about my upcoming live in-person experience, Ignite the Inner Uprising, designed specifically for women ready to stand in their own sovereignty!   Sign up here to get information and be on the waitlist to learn more.  https://ignite2026.lovable.app 👇 I’d love to hear from you in the comments: When was the last time you felt truly "heard" in a conversation?
