    Sofia Crespo, Generative Artist | Tech+Art

    Sofia Crespo is a generative artist working with neural networks and machine learning models - effectively blending these new technologies with biology-inspired concepts to produce incredibly unique outputs. One of Sofia’s main focuses areas and underlying thesis, is the way organic life uses artificial mechanisms to simulate itself and evolve, implying that technologies are a biased product of the organic life that created them and not a completely separated object. She is also passionate about creativity and the changing role of artists who are working with machine learning techniques.     Tim Rodenbroker, Creative Coder | Tech+Art

    Lee Jones, Researcher & Creator | Tech+Art

    Today we’re joined by Lee Jones, a researcher at Carleton University’s Creative Interactions Lab. Lee is pursuing her PhD there and exploring topics related to wearables, e-textiles and co-design. She’s also a prolific creator and routinely delivers workshops around her work for the public. Lee has create easy-to-use, e-textile prototyping kits for one of these workshops called ElectroStitches. She’s also been a fellow at Open Style Lab in NYC & is currently doing a virtual artist-in-residency with Daimon.     Joanne Hastie, Artist & Engineer | Tech+Art

    Today we’re speaking with Joanne Hastie, a Canadian artist & engineer based in Vancouver. Joanne’s focus is in using technology to be more creative. In her current work she uses robotics, programming, AI and paint to create art. Joanne has over a decade she worked as an R&D Engineer in various small companies while painting on evenings and weekends. She kept both careers very separate - until they suddenly collided just a few years ago. She taught herself python and dove right in.     Travis Kirton, Founder & Director, Flow | Tech+Art

    Today we're speaking with Travis Kirton, the founder and director of Flow, a powerful animation tool that generates code. Travis has an extensive career in the creative technology space working at pioneering institutions such The Ars Electronica Futurelab and The Banff Centre for the Arts. Previously, Travis built C4 an open-source creative coding framework for artists and designers. He is also a Principle at Logic&Form, a studio that designs and builds interactive experiences. We had an incredible conversation about the challenges surrounding the type of work that can be done with creative technology, his path through the industry building C4 and now Flow, and much more.
