Bible - Bizarre Ancient Book or Work of Genius? Would You Read It?

Is the Bible a bizarre ancient book… or absolute genius? In this follow-up to “What’s the Bible Really About?”, we examine one of the most improbable facts in history: How did a book written by 40+ authors over 1,500 years, in 3 languages, across dozens of genres — survive empires, exiles, book burnings, and skepticism to become the best-selling book of all time and shape Western civilization more than any other? We weigh both sides:* The Bizarre case: A messy, contradictory anthology that somehow won the cultural lottery through politics, fear, and selective interpretation.* The Brilliant case: A unified meta-narrative that explains the human condition, fuels redemption, transforms societies, and shows remarkable coherence across centuries.I share why I personally see it as brilliant (including the coherence I discover with every reading), while encouraging you to approach it with an open, curious spirit — no pressure to agree. This is Part 2 of a 2-part series. If you haven’t watched Part 1 yet, start there: it explores the three main ways people view the Bible (Control, Command, or Connection).Whether you're a skeptic, a curious seeker, or someone who wants to understand the Bible’s lasting impact, this video invites honest reflection.Timestamps:00:00 – Is the Bible Bizarre or Brilliant?01:30 – The Statistical Improbability03:48 – The Bizarre Case06:42 – The Brilliant Case09:57 – My Personal Take + Why Perspective Matters12:30 – The Drama of Redemption14:00 – Final InvitationDrop your thoughts in the comments:Bizarre or Brilliant? Bible: Control vs Connection? (What is it Really About?)

What is the Bible really about? Control, Command, or Connection? In this “choose your own adventure” video, I explore the three major ways people approach the Bible from a big-picture, meta perspective: Control: Was the Bible written by men to control others using God’s name for credibility and power? Command: Is it primarily a rulebook from God telling us how to live in order to keep Him happy? Connection: Or is it God revealing His design for us so we can experience real happiness, purpose, relationship, and flourishing? I share my personal story — including the 20 years I viewed the Bible as a heavy rulebook — the powerful Garden of Eden example of human agency and responsibility, the simple IKEA furniture analogy, and why I ultimately land on the Connection view as the most compelling. This is Part 1 of a thoughtful 2-part series. In Part 2, we examine why the Bible has endured for thousands of years: Is it the most bizarre cultural artifact in history… or absolute genius? Whether you’re a skeptic, a curious seeker, or someone who grew up with the Bible but want a fresh perspective, this video is designed to help you think more clearly without demanding you agree with any particular conclusion. Chapters/Timestamps: 00:00 – What’s the Bible Really About? (Choose Your Own Adventure) 00:55 – Option 1: Control 03:05 – Option 2: Command 05:20 – Option 3: Connection 06:41 – IKEA Analogy & Designer’s Manual 07:43 – Garden of Eden, Human Agency & Redemption 12:00 – Final Thoughts & Why I Choose Connection Drop your thoughts in the comments: Which of the three options resonates with you most — Control, Command, or Connection? Did the Garden of Eden story shift your perspective?
