Wish I could have a drink with y’all!
I listen to the show while I’m driving, so I can’t. lol! This show tears down that mystical wall that shrouds the world of casting. As an actor, I used to literally tremble at the doors of a casting director since I worshipped them as the gate keepers to my dream. While they still are in a way, this show humanizes the industry. Casting directors have a lot of the same struggles that we have as actors. Casting directors aren’t going to blacklist you forever if you have a bad audition. They aren’t making fun of you behind your back, and they really want to help you give the best audition possible because you doing well makes them look even better at their job! Cheers to this show and next time I’m in your town, (LA OR LONDON) I’m treating y'all to a drink!
Can sift for gems through bad cultural takes
Info is helpful for casting in the US and UK. They complained in their latest episode about bringing “politics” into the Oscars — any mention of politics — um, the personal is political and art is pretty personal. “I don’t need to see Florence Pugh’s nipples anymore” <<< actual quote from this podcast. “But you don’t see Emilia Clarke running around with her business out and we’ve all seen her naked on Game of Thrones.” Leave the fashion commentary to people who don’t shame others for what they wear and how they act. Basically, ignore the clueless chit-chat but there are gems to be found… become one with the fast forward button!
Cheers to Tipsy Casting!
I love this podcast. It’s filled with interesting stories, good advice and best of all- honesty.
Jenn and Jessica are likable and funny. It’s like having a conversation with your friends, but they actually know the business. I have to go back to listen to some of them again, and take notes- that’s how good it is. Actors and anyone in the business should listen. There are some funny stories, so I think anyone interested in hollywood would find this enjoyable and eye opening.
