#71 Part II of V: Laughter And Shared Fun Strengthen Family Bonds

Send us Fan Mail We make a case for play as a missing piece in strong, healthy family relationships, especially when life feels stressful and relationships feel strained. We share how to create fun without turning every gathering into a fixing session, and why joy can be both healing and holy.  • why families who laugh together tend to gather more often  • the difference between play time and problem solving time  • how “hot topics” derail connection at dinners, holidays, and game nights  • why laughter lowers defenses and builds an emotional bank account  • simple ways to create fun: games, movies, walks, shared stories, new experiences  • how traditions create belonging through consistency  • why holiness and joy belong together, with faith based perspective on humor and delight  • a practical challenge to plan one fun moment and avoid hard topics  If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon KCoach.com. #70 Healthy Family Relationships: Part I of V - Two Essential Ingredients Every Family Must Have

Send us Fan Mail We explore why strong family relationships matter so much for happiness and flourishing, especially as more families face division and estrangement over differences. We share two research-backed habits that keep families connected over time: tolerating disagreements and choosing forgiveness.  • the rise of family estrangement and disconnection over beliefs, politics, lifestyles, expectations, and unresolved hurts  • why long-term happiness tracks more with relationships than wealth, status, or achievement  • two essential ingredients for strong family bonds: tolerating disagreements and forgiving one another  • the difference between agreement and understanding and how being heard changes everything  • what tolerance actually means and why trying to control beliefs damages connection  • how forgiveness works without denying harm and without abandoning healthy boundaries  • choosing connection over winning and staying at the table when conflict shows up  • closing prayer for grace to love, listen, and forgive  If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon Kcoaching.com. #68 The Power & Purpose Of Regret

Send us Fan Mail Regret has a way of sneaking into the quiet moments, replaying old conversations and parenting decisions like a loop you can’t turn off. I’m Sharon Murphy, a certified life and mindset coach, and today I’m speaking directly to mothers, especially moms of adult children, who feel the weight of “I should have done it differently” and wonder if it’s too late to make things right. We get honest about what regret really is: an emotional signal that something in the past didn’t align with our values, wisdom, or hopes. Then we make a crucial distinction that can change your spiritual life and your relationships: regret isn’t automatically the problem. What matters is whether it becomes a teacher or a prison. We walk through healthy regret that leads to humility, repentance, wisdom, and compassion, and we contrast it with unhealthy regret that turns into condemnation, despair, and hiding from God. You’ll also get practical tools for emotional healing and Christian growth, including questions to discern whether a thought is moving you toward action or paralysis, peace or despair. I share a motherhood example many of us relate to, plus three simple steps to transform the moment: name it, learn it, and release it. For Catholic listeners, we also talk about confession as a real encounter with Christ’s mercy and how to stop “resurrecting” what God has already forgiven. If this helps you, subscribe, leave a review, and share it with a friend who’s carrying regret in silence. What part hit home most for you? #67 How To Overcome Procrastination

Send us Fan Mail Procrastination is not a character flaw or a laziness problem, it is often our brain’s way of avoiding an uncomfortable emotion. We break down the real cost of delay and share simple, practical steps to rebuild self-trust through action.  • procrastination as avoidance, not lack of discipline  • the short-term relief that creates long-term stress  • how broken promises to ourselves erode confidence and identity  • sneaky procrastination patterns like researching, planning, and overthinking  • how the four temperaments procrastinate differently  • the key question to unlock change: what am I unwilling to feel  • five tools to move into action, including smaller steps and timed starts  • progress over perfection and rebuilding self-trust with tiny commitments  If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon K Coaching.com. #66 - The Key To Emotionally Resilient Kids with Special Guest Emily Adams

Send us Fan Mail Grief doesn’t disappear when you “accept” it and if you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by emotions you can’t name, you’re not alone. I’m joined by Catholic coach Emily Adams, who shares how six pregnancy losses reshaped her life and ultimately led her to help women and teens build emotional resilience grounded in Christ’s love and mercy. We talk honestly about what it feels like to carry grief day by day, and why the missing piece is often learning what to do with your emotions instead of fighting them. We also dig into parenting and teenagers, because big emotions do not stop at adulthood. Emily explains why transitions and lack of control can amplify teen reactions, and how parents can respond without fear, fixing, or shutdown. We explore what changes when we replace “You’re fine” with curiosity, emotional vocabulary, and genuine space to be seen. If you’ve ever wanted better family communication, calmer conflict, and a faith-based way to talk about anger, jealousy, sadness, and shame, you’ll find plenty to take home. Emily offers practical tools you can start today: using an emotion wheel to expand your emotional language, doing a two-to-five-minute end-of-day emotional recon, noticing where emotions show up in the body, and connecting the dots between thoughts, feelings, and actions. We also make it prayerful, inviting Jesus into the 90-second “wave” of an emotion so it can move through you rather than take over you. If this conversation helps, subscribe, leave a rating and review, and share it with a friend who needs a calmer way to handle big feelings. #65 Gen X vs. Gen Z: What’s Actually Happening Inside Families Right Now

Send us Fan Mail We name the quiet shift happening inside families where Gen X parents and Gen Z adult kids use the same words but mean totally different things about love, loyalty, respect, and boundaries. We hold both sides with compassion and talk about how to stay emotionally healthy without turning family relationships into something fragile and disposable.  • why many families feel careful, tense, or distant even with real love  • defining Generation X, millennials, and Generation Z in plain terms  • independence and survival-first formation versus emotional awareness and healing-first formation  • how social media, constant comparison, and world-crisis exposure shape anxiety and self-worth  • authority, institutional distrust, and why “just because I said so” no longer works  • clashing communication styles: solution-focused versus emotionally detailed language  • delayed adulthood, living at home longer, and constant contact through texting and location sharing  • how boundaries help people leave abuse yet can also become avoidance or control  • the hidden grief many Gen X parents carry when access feels conditional  • the guilt and relief Gen Z adults may feel while trying to break unhealthy patterns  • what gets lost when grandparent relationships are severed and repair slows down culturally  • a Catholic lens: dignity, sin, mercy, responsibility, and the sacredness of family bonds  • practical growth on both sides: emotional presence and resilience, truth and compassion  I would love for you to leave a comment about what you thought about this episode.  If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at SharonKCoach.com.  If you've enjoyed listening, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite platform.  And feel free to share with anyone you think might benefit from what you've heard.  Click the link below to set up a free discovery call to begin your transformation today.  Or email me @ smurph923.sm@gmail.com to find out more about how I can help.   https://calendly.com/smurph923-sm/discovery-call https://sharonkcoaching.com/ https://subscribepage.io/The-Five-Things-Your-Adult-Child-Needs-to-Hear-From-You

#64 Holding Hard And Beautiful Together

Send us Fan Mail Life feels heavy sometimes, and I remind you that hard seasons are not proof something has gone wrong. I share a faith-centered perspective that helps us accept life as a training ground, pray with honesty, and learn to hold hard and beautiful together.  • noticing how “life should be easy” thinking sets us up to panic  • changing perspective after confession and remembering earth as a training ground  • naming real hard things like grief, health worries, and family stress  • accepting life as 50-50 so we stop assuming disaster  • praying for relief while also asking what God wants to teach us  • seeing hardship as a path to sanctity and growth in virtue  • recognizing how our response becomes a witness to others  • practicing gratitude and sharing it out loud to spread beauty  • holding hard and beautiful together to avoid pride or bitterness  • grounding our mindset in Romans 8:28 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18  If you have any questions or would like to go deeper into this topic or how it affects you in your own life, you can find me at Sharon Kcoaching.com.
