I’m so glad this podcast is shining light on the seriousness of dry eye. It’s so widespread and so important to treat aggressively. I’m shocked at how many eye doctors dismiss it. It contributes to far worse conditions and people need awareness of that.
I’ve been helping my brother find help for his severe photophobia, recurrent bouts of iritis, and suspected corneal neuralgia for several months. It’s been an education! Good doctors who I’m sure would like to have helped his crippling photophobia never told us that dry eye is the leading cause. They remarked that he had signs of dry eye, but didn’t ever make the connection or treat it seriously. Once we found a dry eye specialist who began aggressive treatment, he finally started having small improvements.
Why do so many doctors fail to treat DED seriously when I, as a layperson, can discover through online research available to all that it underlies many difficult and painful eye conditions? People are suffering needlessly.
