The Lost World (1925) + film festival chit chat & The Odyssey through the Odyssey | Ep.08

This week on Tonight's Second Feature, James & Rhys go back 66 million years to watch The Lost World (1925). Amidst the pioneering silent epics of the 1920s, Hollywood would release the first film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic novel about a land where prehistoric creatures still roam. In London, Professor Challenger announces that prehistoric creatures are alive and flourishing in the Amazon jungle and declares his intention to mount an expedition proving his point. Journalist Edward Malone volunteers to go and convinces his newspaper to fund the journey. Paula White hopes to find her father, a missing explorer. They and others undertake the voyage and witness dinosaurs and humanoids doing battle in a magnificent landscape. Obsession + Mother Mary & The Odyssey through the Odyssey | Ep.07

This week, on Tonight's first feature, we dive into TWO MOVIES! That's right, folks, we are double featuring Mother Mary 2026 (dir. David Lowery) & Obsession 2026 (dir. Curry Barker). David Lowery is an American filmmaker known for his independent features, such as A Ghost Story and The Green Knight, as well as his mainstream large-budget studio films, including Pete's Dragon. He is back with Mother Mary starring Anne Hathaway & Michaela Coel. Obsession is Curry Barker's first theatrical feature released worldwide to immediate financial and critical success. Barker alongside his creative partner Cooper Tomlinson whom he met in film school began his career in sketch comedy posting videos on their youtube channel “Thats a bad idea”. His horror short “The Chair” got the attention of “47 meters down” producer James Harris who approached Barker to finance a script, out of all his ideas, Obsession stood out to him. Silent Spectacular Begins with The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari & An Odyssey through the Odyssey | Ep.06

Tonight's First Feature is Lee Cronins The Mummy (2026) & the boys reveal the theme for season one | Ep.03

On the first ever episode of Tonight's First Feature, James and Rhys discuss "Lee Cronin's The Mummy". Lee Cronin's debut feature film, The Hole in the Ground (2019), had its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. In 2023, he wrote and directed Evil Dead Rise, the fifth installment in the Evil Dead franchise. In June 2024, he passed on directing further sequels to Evil Dead Rise, signing on to write and direct the horror film The Mummy. Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) & the boys talk African Cinema and Godzilla! | Ep. 02
