It's the guys from " Canned Air"! (Which is NOTHING like "Podcast In A Mason Jar")

It's the guys from " Canned Air"! (Which is NOTHING like "Podcast In A Mason Jar")

I can imagine Jack, Jeremy, and Randy running the world's coolest comic book and video store, after this interview. They have a deep passion for comics, movies, video games, etc., and it really shows. They love playing games with their listeners, so check out their show for more details. I'd love to see them doing a live Q&A on their show. I doubt you could stump them, provided you stay away from Spider Man questions. (Sorry again, Randy. No control over my typing fingers.) But it's definitely podcasts like these that take you way back, and hear from the people who made those times so memorable. However, I'm guessing there won't be much nostalgia for 2020. '("Hey, remember how much fun the quarantine was?"..."ummm...no.") But anyway, thanks so much to the guys for stopping by!

Yo, DJ, play that Podcast! Darran Bruce of "The DJ Sessions" is in the Mix!

Yo, DJ, play that Podcast! Darran Bruce of "The DJ Sessions" is in the Mix!

Darran Bruce strikes me as a guy who likes to be ahead of the curve. As opposed to me. who tends to trip on it, and get tangled up in it. What he says about playing copyrighted material is very important to podcasters, because so many don't know what the actual rules ae. Any music that I play on here is with consent from the artist. And Major League Baseball. Which I don't really know why, because i don't own a stadium organ. But I do have Mr. Bruce announcing when I'll be singing the national anthem. But I digress. Hopefully, Darran enjoyed his glass of frothy German "milk" (it might rhyme with "Knowin' Cow") while we had our interview, but I certainly appreciated his time!

The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Scotty Morris of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy!

The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet Scotty Morris of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy!

I really enjoyed talking to Scotty as much as I did mixing in the band's music for this episode! You can't just sit still and listen to it, although I must say my jitterbugging skills need serious repair, as do 2 lamps, a toaster oven, a nightstand, and half of my VHS collection of "Small Wonder", after I attempted to do so.  We spoke about the band not touring (at that time), and I could tell that he'd be ready to jump on stage at a moment's notice, as the band clearly loves to play, and they love their fans. So sit tight, Rebels-when the time comes for them to come to your town, they'll be a souped up version of the well-oiled machine that they already are! Thanks so much for the interview, Scotty! (And a bonus thanks to Brian Stanley for making this happen!)

If you'd like to follow them online, go to bbvd.com and you'll see all of their social media links. Choose one, and they're there!

Here are the songs featured in this episode, provided with permission, of course. Ask Alexa, Google, or Siri to play them, and wreck your own furniture bopping around!

(Friday the 13th at) The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet C.J. Graham! (Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives)

(Friday the 13th at) The Sherpa Screening Room: Meet C.J. Graham! (Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives)

All the time that I was interviewing C.J. Graham, I wondered to myself "What does it take to get into the right mindset to play a homicidal maniac?" Then, I realized, well, I used to work for one, so why not draw on that? But I think it would have been really cool if C.J . was my boss, if I worked for a casino. Imagine this conversation:

Angry Patron: " Let me speak to your manager!!"

    Sherpa: " Nooooo problem!"

But , C.J. was a true delight. The character of Jason Voorhees is such an iconic figure in the world of horror, and it brings him such pride to have portrayed him. He comes across as a guy who's really had his priorities straight, and knows what's important, on-screen and off, which I really admired. Maybe we'll see him in a role where you can actually see his face? He's actually more handsome than your Sherpa. (Okay, I better rephrase that, I don't want to insult the guy. He does use a machete better than I do my Veg-O-Matic. Kids, just ask your parents to explain that one.) C.J, I hope you enjoy your retirement, but if the big or small screen comes calling, I'm sure you'll chop, ummm, knock, 'em dead! Thanks again! See you Rebels on Wednesday!

Class is In Session-with Scott Hopkins!

Class is In Session-with Scott Hopkins!

True Story: Sherpa Mom worked in my elementary school for 30 years. Do you know what it's like to be 10 and your principal is knocking on your door? (Well, maybe YOU do, Mr- Authority- doesn't- scare- me.) Actually, it makes you realize at an early age that teachers are people, just like everyone else, and they have lives, too. I'm related to (and married to 1) many teachers, and have a great respect for their field. Hey, if you're miserable keeping 1 student home, how rough is 25-30 kids in one spot?

It was a real pleasure getting to know Scott Hopkins. He may have taught in a different era, but he used the opportunity to really connect with his students. Not always easy in this pandemic-plagued isolated world, nowadays. But think about it-aren't the teachers that you connected with the most memorable? Thanks so much , Scott, for reminding us why folks in this field should be held in high regard.
