This week, we dive into several pivotal updates impacting transgender rights and legislation across North America and beyond. ## New Hampshire's Controversial Disclosure Law New Hampshire has just enacted SB 430, a law that mandates educators to disclose students' gender identities to their parents, even if the students have requested confidentiality for their safety. Governor Kelly Ayotte signed the bill, which has drawn criticism for potentially putting students in harm's way. > "How is a kid asking to be called by their preferred name self-harm?" - Becki Educators are now caught in a difficult position, as this law reverses a prior ruling that upheld the confidentiality of students' identities. Megan Tuttle of NEA New Hampshire voiced concerns over the vague wording of the law, stating that it could lead to unintended consequences for vulnerable students. ## Supreme Court of Canada Takes Action Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Canada is set to hear appeals regarding Saskatchewan's pronoun consent law. This legislation restricts students under 16 from changing their name or pronouns in schools without parental consent.
