  3. Episode 51 The "Real Life" Test

    09/24/2019

Episode 51 The "Real Life" Test

Join us this week for our first Nash and C in person episode! We sat down, together, in the flesh and discussed what is commonly referred to as the 'Real Life Test or 'Real Life Experience'. While neither of us have first hand experience with this 'test'- it was the only option offered to Nash when he wanted to begin his transition in New Jersey! That and other reasons ultimately lead him to move to Seattle. We discuss what the real life test actually entails and our beliefs of the dangers it presents. We go on a bit of a tangent on the medical red tape faced by trans* folx, but it's all related- we promise. And may even lead to further episodes, stick around and find out. Comments? Questions? Whatever? Tweet us at @Trans_Wisdom. You can also find us on Instagram @transitionalwisdom. Want to learn more about the team- you can follow Nash @nashazarian and C @ladideathstrike on IG. 4. Episode 50: Jen Winslow

    09/17/2019

    Episode 50: Jen Winslow

Don't sleep on this episode. Nash sits down with the absolutely hilarious Jen Winslow, a Los Angeles trans-plant from Indiana. Jen is a comedian, actress, writer and also just happens to be trans*. They discuss how she got her start in comedy and how her transition has played and not played a role in that arena. This episode covers a lot of serious topics, they talk about her early life, transition and 20+ year marriage, and how transitioning impacted that relationship. They also talk about Jen's own nonbinary child and how navigating that coming out has gone. While this episode is serious, Jen has such a way of incorporating comedy you're sure to laugh (and maybe cry) along the way.   Comments? Questions? Whatever? Tweet us at @Trans_Wisdom. As we return to new episodes this week, we're diving into the interesting and ever evolving topic of PEEING! Nash examines his peeing habits and challenges pre transition, during transition and post phalloplasty. Nash's experience peeing post phalloplasty proved to be a bigger adjustment than he imagined, so he reflects on this and also shares the ways he utilized his creativity to document and track changes, including the information he used to establish stricture patterns post op.     Comments?
