Travel Create Repeat

Roxanne Patruznick

Artist and nomad Roxanne Patruznick interviews international artists, writers, musicians and more about travel and creativity. My intention with the podcast is to highlight other creative people who are also connected to travel in some way. I'll have conversations with fellow visual artists, writers, musicians, dancers, film makers, actors, chefs, meditators and anyone else creating something. Many of the people I talk with work across multiple creative mediums. I’m interested in how travel has shaped my creative friends, how travel inspired their work and if they have travel stories. I am also exploring a deep dive into what Travel is and what Creativity is. These are solo podcast shorts and my intention with these is to open up ways of looking at what Travel is and what Creativity is along with why it's important for us.

Alea Bone Interview: How I changed my life for art

Alea Bone Interview How I changed my life for art In this episode, Alea shares her path from Northern California to Yosemite to Portland to Los Angeles, and finally, to Joshua Tree. We talk about her process of working with found objects and how she discovered the beauty of bottlecaps and tin. Alea also discusses the impact of travel on how she makes her artwork, arriving at a big realization about how she wants to live her life and what it means to find her forever home. Artist Bio Alea Bone received her BFA in Illustration from the Pacific Northwest College of Art. Soon after graduating, she traded in her paintbrush for tin snips and a hammer. Her art is tactile and physical, cutting leather and pounding metal. She gleans inspiration from discarded items such as bottlecaps, beer cans and vintage tin. Over the last 15 years of working with recycled materials, she has discovered that objects have a way of finding her - rather than the other way around.  Growing up in Northern California and spending time in Yosemite, she gains inspiration from the beauty of nature. She recently relocated to the desert from Portland, Oregon in a car loaded with more bottlecaps than personal possessions. Her extensive collection has been donated by friends from all over the world throughout the years. These materials represent a collaboration of intention, generosity, and love, and add communal energy to her work.  To see more of Alea Bones work go to: aleabone on Instagram And BoneWerx on facebook If you enjoyed this podcast please consider subscribing to my email on my website: www.travelcreaterepeat.com There you can stay up to date on my travel blog, podcast episodes and see what’s in the art shop.
