Contentment & the Life of Faith

The word contentment gets used frequently in today’s culture, but its meaning often shifts depending on who’s discussing it. So, what exactly is contentment? How does it connect to faith and trust? Should Christians seek contentment outside ourselves, or is the popular self-love movement the answer? Understanding contentment rightly as Christians is incredibly counter cultural and helps us take pleasure in God as we treasure Christ above all. Join Pastors John and Drew as they explore these questions and welcome a special guest who recently co-taught a class on contentment at Woodridge. We’d love to hear your thoughts–Email us at treasurecast@woodridge.cc with questions, feedback, or suggestions for future episodes. Ask the Pastors (Gambling, Fasting & Liturgical Feast Days)

You’ve probably heard us talk about emailing questions on almost every episode, right? Well, based on popular demand–you asked questions, and we answered them! Join Pastors John, Drew, Matt E., and Rich as they discuss questions submitted over the course of the TreasureCast in this new “Ask the Pastors” style podcast. The questions that are addressed in this episode include: -         Should Christians fast, and if so, how should we do it? -         What is gambling? Is it sinful for Christians to gamble or place bets? Are all forms of gambling the same across card games, sports games, or fantasy football leagues? -         At Woodridge, we celebrate three of the five evangelical feast days. Why don’t we celebrate Ascension and Pentecost? Join us in this discussion as we take these questions head-on, see what scripture says, and go down some fun glory trails in the process! Preventing Roots of Bitterness

Have you seen a tree get blown over and uprooted –or even removed by a large machine? This feat requires immense force, because it has roots that act like anchors, reaching deep into the soil. Roots are good in their ability to anchor and provide nourishment. But there is another kind of root that can anchor itself and provide unhealthy nourishment to our souls; the root of bitterness. If left to grow, this bitter root can cause sin to cascade and escalate in our lives. It can destroy the church, our relationships, and negatively impact our ability to treasure Christ above all. In this episode of the TreasureCast, Pastors Derek, Matt, John and Drew discuss the topic “Preventing Roots of Bitterness.” They discuss the damage that bitterness causes and the other sins it can lead to. But for the Christian, there is hope –they also lead us to the remedy that exists in God’s Word so we can starve and uproot these roots of bitterness in our lives. We’d love to hear your thoughts. Email us at treasurecast@woodridge.cc with feedback or suggestions for future episodes. Dating and Courting as a Christian

When we look around at the culture in America, as Christians we often reel back in shock and horror at the practices happening around us—especially in how the world approaches dating and its close relative, “hook-up culture.” It seems like a free-for-all, with little to no oversight outside the church—and sometimes even within it. As Christians, we cannot accept the world’s approach to dating. But what should we do? How should we view relationships with the opposite sex before marriage? Should we date? Should we do something else, like courting? And what exactly is courting? Join Pastors Rich, Matt, and Drew as they delve into the topic of dating and courting from a biblical perspective. They explore some of the history behind these practices and discuss who should be involved in the process. We value your feedback and suggestions on this episode and future episodes. Email us at treasurecast@woodridge.cc.
