Chooch has been following a dog in pursuit of some sort of game his entire life. Growing up deep in the swamps of Louisiana hunting and trapping were a part of his everyday life. As he got older coon hunting became his passion and especially with a fine black dog. Chooch has been in love with the breed ever since. Not only is he a leading expert on the breed he bred, raised and hunted them for just as long. We talk about how he got his start in the breed and how he met Taylor Crockett. He became a student of Mr. Crockett. They travelled many miles together and spoke to numerous mountain families about the old brindle bear dogs. He was in town visiting his parents for the holidays. While Greg was originally from the same area as me, he has moved West and is now a dry ground lion hunter. Along the way Greg has had numerous different types of working and hunting dogs. It was Hugh that asked Pat to bring his dogs into the registry. His dogs have made a name for themselves all around his region. Pat has won more All American Treed Dog awards than anyone else. This is no small task as the dogs have to be nominated by someone other thtan the owner.
