    In August 1966, two Brazilian electronics technicians, Miguel José Viana and Manoel Pereira da Cruz, were found dead on Vintém Hill near Rio de Janeiro under deeply mysterious circumstances.     The Smurl Haunting is one of the most famous and controversial paranormal cases in the United States. What makes the Wendigo truly frightening is not just its appearance — but the idea that it begins as a human being. The legend serves as a warning that under enough fear, isolation, and desperation, the line between human and monster may not be as strong as we believe.
