174: Go Have Some Fun, Your Health Depends on It

What if your inability to relax, enjoy life, or have fun… isn’t just a personality trait? What if it’s actually affecting your body? In this episode, we’re talking about the biology of happiness and why joy, laughter, and enjoyment are not optional extras in the Christian life… they are part of how God designed your body to function. Because here’s what’s true: When you live in a constant state of stress, pressure, overthinking, and striving, your body keeps score. And over time, it starts to show up as anxiety, poor sleep, tension, burnout, and even physical symptoms. But the opposite is also true. Joy heals. Rest restores. Enjoyment regulates. In this episode, I’m breaking down: What happens in your brain and body when you experience joy, laughter, and pleasureWhy chronic stress and “always being on” is dysregulating your systemThe difference between numbing out (scrolling, overworking, distracting) and true enjoymentHow doing simple, enjoyable things can actually begin to heal your mind, body, and soulWhy some of you don’t need more insight, more processing, or more overthinking… you need to actually do something differentWe also talk about this honestly: Yes, counseling and coaching can be incredibly helpful. But for some of you, what’s keeping you stuck isn’t a lack of insight… it’s a lack of joyful living. You may need to spend a season prioritizing play, rest, and enjoyment—and see what that does in your body. This is an invitation to stop overcomplicating things…and start receiving what God has already given. Because taking care of your health might look a lot more like going outside, laughing, resting, and enjoying your life than you think.

173 : You’re Allowed to Be Happy (but nobody told you)

JOIN THE WELL | Podcast Based Discipleship Community Led by Rebekah for just $39/month Are you actually allowed to be happy? It sounds like a simple question… but for many Christian women, the honest answer is complicated. Somewhere along the way, we started to believe that happiness is shallow. That it’s distracting. That if we’re not careful, enjoying our lives might mean we’re becoming less serious, less spiritual, or less faithful. So instead, we stay busy. We stay responsible. We carry the weight. And even when life is good… we struggle to fully receive it. In this episode, we’re slowing down and telling the truth about that. We’re talking about: Why happiness can feel uncomfortable, unfamiliar, or even wrongThe subtle guilt many women carry when life feels light, easy, or enjoyableThe difference between escaping into pleasure and actually receiving enjoyment as a gift from GodHow constant striving, overthinking, and “being responsible” can quietly disconnect you from joyWhat Scripture actually shows us about enjoyment, delight, and living a life that is both faithful and fullThis is not about chasing a feeling. And it’s not about ignoring pain or pretending everything is okay. It’s about learning how to receive what is good without guilt…and recognizing that a life anchored in truth will naturally make room for joy. If you’ve ever felt like you should be happier… but don’t know how to let yourself get there, this episode will help you start untangling that.

    171. Peace Part III - How Chronic Stress Prevents Physical Peace

JOIN THE WELL - $39/month CHRISTIAN LIFE COACHING WITH REBEKAH INVITE REBEKAH TO SPEAK AT YOUR EVENT Many Christians are genuinely seeking peace by praying, trusting God, staying faithful...and yet still feel chronically overwhelmed, wired, exhausted, or emotionally numb. In this episode, we explore a hard but freeing truth: peace is not only a spiritual concept, it is also a physiological state. When the body is living in survival mode, it may not be able to feel the peace God promises, even when faith is sincere. This conversation is not about blaming your body or questioning your faith. It’s about understanding how God designed us as spiritual beings living in physical bodies, and why Scripture never asks us to ignore our limits in order to trust Him. The difference between God’s peace in trials and burnout disguised as faith Why peace isn’t something you can simply “think” or “pray” your way into What chronic stress actually is and what it does to the brain, hormones, and body Why stillness feels uncomfortable for many faithful Christians How over-spiritualizing stress keeps the nervous system stuck in survival mode How Scripture consistently affirms rest, limits, and embodied wisdom Key Scriptures Mentioned Philippians 4:7 — The peace of God that guards our hearts and minds Matthew 11:28–30 — Jesus’ invitation to the weary Exodus 20:8–11 — Sabbath as a command, not a suggestion Psalm 23:2–3 — Restoration happens beside still waters 1 Kings 19 — God meets Elijah’s exhaustion with rest and nourishment Exodus 18 — Moses is warned against unsustainable leadership Mark 6:31 — Jesus calls His disciples away to rest
