    WORLD CUP DISTRACTION PART 1

    Not to forget the ills back home, I recalled the insecurity that's now institutionalised and almost pointless fighting because we are not ready. A deeper dive into the mundial cools off the steam of everything politics, economic regression, and other sullen talking points on the podcast. On this episode. I give my honest round up of games played thus far and especially the chances of African teams going far in the competition on the back of their first games (bar Ghana who played just after recording). The big players have answered when fans askef for something special except Ronaldo who gave DR CONGO a terrific result on their return to the world stage. As we get into the second round of group fixtures, it is almost clear to know that are willing to pounce on more moments given. Thomas Tuchel's England are adequate examples.

    SELECTIVE MORALITY ON STEROID

    The unwillingness of Nigerians to be true Nigerians is our focus on this episode. Lack of will. Citizens' vague demand. The all time low of living that keeps getting eclipsed. Our detestful belief in the divine to come do what is humanly possible is where the conversation led us. Thought provoking. Bitter truth spewed. Maybe too much than I planned when the conceived this podcast name. To make matters worse, Marv, Olawale and I proferred solutions the people are not ready to use. We touched on the World Cup that gets underway and our picks for dark horse and strong title contenders. It's USA time to shine and that's exactly why we had time to evaluate the NBA final between SAS and Trump-backed Knicks.

    LOVE ON THE POD

    As a way of conmemorating the genuine exchange of love that comes with Valentine Day, this episode channels our animative yet unseen affection as a couple as we hope it does for our listeners. This episode also help demystify the confusion about the Tax Act and its implementation with clear explanation given by guest who is aficionado of Tax related matters. My guest is my wife, so it also made a lot of sense conversing about the new learning curve of merging motherhood and professional career.     THE UMPTEENTH NEW BEGINNING

    Staging a comeback of this kind has never been easier. Zest restored, a new era is on the horizon, even if it is for the umpteenth time. This episode captures talking points of the first few days of 2026 and spill overs of December 2025. The Super Eagles of Nigeria valiant display and arguably the best display in three decades could only get them to the Semis as they lost to host Morocco. I pointed out the positives and the leassons learnt albeit intolerable missing out on two consecutive World Cup. The debacle on tax and its resulting grey areas is a big issue that I could not dwell on because of the overwhelming loopholes. Chimamanda Adichie's loss of her child in a circumstance that could have been avoided is still in the news. Nigeria’s preparation for the election season is already underway, permutations are clearly on display. International politics is hinged on Trump's full throated and menacing acts on Venezuela and the effect on the global space and it is worthy of note. On a personal level, questioning my belief system regularly yet careful not to run into the abyss of agnoticism is key while the remaining minutes is pocketed by scanty sport round up.

    THE DEARTH OF INTELLECTUALS IN NIGERIA

    This episode is celebration of little consistency - first time in a long while I'm releasing back to back episodes without apologising for long delay. It also captures the prevailing dearth of intellectuals globally but more disturbing in Nigeria. Netizens are more dumb even in this age of AI, quick fact checking tools and the rise of more swift-to-act enablers. Here in Nigeria, our lingos have been indoctrinated into the Oxford Dictionary, a school teacher spanking a child with an iron fist has been arrested. Though with a misleading headline it is the news that a former Catholic priest is now a full-time traditionalist, the decimation of piracy in Nollywood has been made possible by YouTube movies as film producers are eating good from this style to feed movie lovers what they cannot get on movie streaming platforms. Nigeria is now the sixth country with the best quality of life in Africa behind Egypt, Morocco, and South Africa. Globally, the global community is paying last respect to the 39th US President Jimmy Carter and the coming together of top dignitaries and the biggest politicians is like a box office political show during his funeral. In sport, Brown Ideye has returned to Enyimba to enjoy his second spell in the NPFL while the EPL has witnessed to managerial casualties in the space of a week - Julen Lopetegui and Sean Dysche adequately replaced by Graham Potter and David Moyes(yet to be finalised at thd time of this episode release). And then review of last week's games abd the prospect of teams going into the next fixtures.

    Alas! 2024 bids us farewell, but not without the unending documentation of key occurences, social unrest, and the in-betweens of life. On this episode, I touched on the three too many stampedes that ended the lives of kids and adults in Ibadan, Anambra, and Abuja, the first installment of Dele Farotimi v Aare Afe Babalola case, the yuletide special bout between IJGBs and Lagos Babes, and the incredible shock knowing that a seating governor's inability to read numbers during budget presentation without gaffing is a sign of honesty. On the foreign scene but tied to the home front, Kemi Badenoch( UK Conservative Party Leader) unsavoury comment about her time in Nigeria is dividing Nigerians on whether she is truly one of us or not. Elon Musk and Ramaswamy are now seen as anti-MAGA technocrats trying to restore indentured servants rather than high skilled foreign workers with their strong opinion that H-IB Visas should be opened to legal immigrants. And then I asked if Amorim can still be trusted as a true solution or just a hairy ETH amongst other half-of-the-season review of the EPL top performers and pretenders. It's the end of the year and the biggest slang is better said and practised indoor.

    PART TIME PRESIDENCY

    This episode starts with a layman deep dive into the Dangote Refinery versus NNPLC rhetoric concerning the preferred currency to transact for PMS. Then I touched on the chill interest of the Minister of Petroleum, who is on intermittent sabbatical outside his PPA. Our Paralympians are back into the country after papering the disappointment of their forerunners who ended their oarticioatiib without any medal. These special athletes got 7 medals for their troubles, and our first lady regalled with cash gift. This is far from the actual development needed to aid better preparation, but we always clap for this act because it screams sensitive PR. It is one year since the demise of Mohmad. Still waiting for his burial rites, there is no concrete resolution on the cause of his death, and we keep wailing his abrupt end to life. Education and the pile of expenses for school resumption is real for parents. X has always been a hub of absurdities and a biased minefield that should be treated with calm, not extravagant opinion. And then I rounded off with sport as we welcome the new Uefa Champions league and what it portends for players and fans alike. I also reviewed the winners and loosers of the last weekend of club football in Europe's top leagues. There was also little time to give the NPFL reps publicity for their performance at the preliminary stage of the CAF Champions League.

    UNMARRIED MEN ALSO CRY

    Unmarried men share their plights in a merciless world where they are judged by what they provide. We dissected the reasons our missing ribs have not been found, as well as the battles we fight every day to remain responsible in a society that aggrandize moral decadence. Still bachelors climbing the ladder of manly lifestyle, we highlighted the merits and demerits of living alone. We also touched on the perks of gender roles and how our roles are regularly thankless. We are fully aware of the parental vacuum that leads to daddy issues, and as men, we demystify the false generalisation of manly irresponsibility. We gave women in our lives their flowers for doing the best for us to thrive and remain seen. The last lap pocketed our review of the first week of active club football action.
