Truuman Podcast

Lewis Hackney

I’m Lewis Hackney, and I believe now is the best time in history to be a man — not because of old systems holding on, but because for the first time, we have options. I’m the founder of Truuman — a platform and podcast built to explore what modern masculinity really looks like when men are free to choose their own path. Through honest conversations, real experiences, and spaces where men can speak without judgment, I help guys cut through the noise and get clear on who they want to be. Alongside the podcast, I co-lead The Foundry CIC, where we design and deliver workshops for boys, men, and the people who raise and work with them. We work with schools, businesses, and community orgs to create tangible change — from fatherhood support groups to staff training. My work lives at the intersection of culture, self-development, and honest conversation. If you’re a man trying to figure it out — or someone who supports them — let’s talk.

Fuel, Function & the Hormones Nobody Talks About

This week's guest is Ollie Matthews, a Functional Medicine Practitioner and Hormone Coach who helps exhausted parents get their energy, health, and confidence back so they can show up properly for their families. Ollie lost his dad at 15. He spent the years after that in corporate burnout, using food to manage what he hadn't dealt with. He found his way out through fitness, and then went deeper — training under Harvard-affiliated Dr Datis Kharrazian, becoming one of the first practitioners in the UK to hold that accreditation. The path wasn't clean. A bodybuilding phase that involved steroid use left his own hormones in a mess. That experience shaped everything he does now. He's worked with Taylor Swift's first manager Rick Barker, Beverley Knight, world champion endurance athletes, and Tour de France riders. Then he became a parent and realised the most overlooked patient was the exhausted dad in the mirror. That's what The ONE Method is built around — hormones, gut function, sleep, stress resilience, and routines that actually fit around a family. In this episode, we explore: What chronic stress actually does to male hormonesWhy steroid use can cause lasting hormonal damage — and what recovery looks likeWhat standard GP blood panels miss and what functional medicine finds insteadWhy so many fathers are running on empty and can't work out whyHow The ONE Method gives parents a clear framework to rebuild from the inside out"Most men don't have a discipline problem. They have a biology problem they don't know about yet." This one is for the dad who's doing everything right on paper but still feels like he's running at 60 percent. Men’s Health Below the Belt — with Michael Strøm This week’s guest is Michael Strøm, a specialist in men’s sexual health and quality of life, working at the forefront of non-invasive treatment and education. Based in Copenhagen, Michael works with men dealing with issues that are often avoided, misunderstood, or quietly suffered through — including erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, incontinence, and pelvic pain. Through his private clinic, he uses advanced shockwave and EMTT technology, combined with detailed ultrasound diagnostics, to treat the physical side of these conditions — while also addressing the mental and emotional impact of being a man dealing with them. Beyond his clinical work, Michael travels globally delivering shockwave workshops to doctors and practitioners, helping raise the standard of care in men’s health. His role isn’t to sell — it’s to educate, inform, and push the field forward. In this episode, we explore: Why men’s sexual health is still such a taboo conversation The truth about erectile dysfunction and performance anxiety What shockwave therapy is and how it actually works The connection between physical health, confidence, and identity Why avoiding these conversations often makes things worse Michael’s philosophy: “Men deserve a high quality of life — physically, mentally, and sexually.” This episode opens up an honest, often uncomfortable, but hugely important conversation about a side of men’s health that rarely gets spoken about — but affects millions. Reversing Decline with Dr Suren Naidoo This week’s guest is Dr Suren Naidoo, a Men’s Health, Metabolic Performance and Longevity Specialist focused on helping men take back control of their health as they age. Working primarily with men aged 40–70, Dr Naidoo specialises in reversing metabolic decline, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance, while reducing cardiovascular risk, restoring testosterone, and rebuilding long-term vitality. He is also the co-founder of Vital-health.ai, a digital health platform designed to help individuals monitor vital signs and take a more proactive, data-driven approach to their wellbeing. After decades in medical practice, Dr Naidoo identified a pattern many men overlook: what we often accept as “normal ageing” — fatigue, weight gain, brain fog — are often early warning signs of deeper health issues. In this episode, we explore: Why fatigue, belly fat, and brain fog aren’t normal ageing The truth about testosterone decline and metabolic health How to reverse insulin resistance and reduce heart risk The biggest mistakes men make with their health in their 40s+ Why data, structure, and consistency beat quick fixes every time Dr Naidoo’s philosophy: “Ageing isn’t the problem, unmanaged decline is.” This conversation is essential listening for any man who wants to stay sharp, strong, and energised long-term and understand what’s really going on beneath the surface of their health.
