There’s a question I ask myself often: who truly knows you? And I’m not talking about followers or LinkedIn connections. I’m talking about that person who would pick up the phone at 3 a.m., who tells you the truth even when it’s uncomfortable, whose name opens doors even when you’re not in the room. That, to me, is real relational capital. Because your network is not a strategy, it’s a mirror. It reflects who you are, how you relate, and the energy you bring into your connections. For years, we’ve been taught that relational capital is about collecting contacts, attending events, exchanging business cards… but that’s just surface-level, and surfaces eventually break. True relational capital is something else. It’s the sum of high-quality relationships built with authenticity, consistency, intention, and generosity. These are connections with living energy, relationships that flow in both directions, that nourish you and that you also nourish. And this is where everything shifts: it’s not about how many people you know, but about the quality of energy within those relationships. Some connections align from an invisible place, where your frequency meets someone else’s instantly. Others are built on a human level, through friction, growth, and truth… and those are often the ones that last. And then there are strategic relationships, the ones that open doors, accelerate opportunities, and expand your growth, because yes, money also travels through relationships. The quality of your life is deeply connected to the quality of your relationships. And it’s not about having more, it’s about cultivating better. Giving without expectation, staying connected even when you don’t need anything, raising your standards, and becoming the person who connects, who adds value, who creates opportunities for others. Because you don’t build a network, you cultivate a garden. And in that garden, some relationships grow, some sustain you, and others you need to release in order to keep evolving. So today I’ll leave you with this: your network is your identity. You don’t meet people by accident, you meet them through alignment. And your next level is not in a strategy, it’s in a relationship.
