Before working at Apple she spent most of her time in edit bays and classrooms – crafting documentaries, cutting news and proms while teaching high schoolers and college students at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. She now designs creative apps for startups and collaborates with former Apple colleagues on development.

Throughout his 20+ year career, Phil has produced the news in TV stations around the country, including in Miami, Florida, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Greenville, Mississippi.  Phil is also a member of the Board of Directors for Student Television Network, and services as the organization’s Vice President. Phil put together a session for this year’s convention called Confessions of a Contest Judge, where Phil, me, and two other judges Alyssa Young and Oliver Sulla will spill the beans about how to win a contest at STN.     Today’s guest, Doug Green, is a retired broadcast journalism teacher from Carlsbad, California. He founded three broadcasting programs in California at Carlsbad High School, Valley Middle School, and Aviara Oaks Middle School. Together they won 30 STN Awards of Excellence, 19 Student Emmy Awards, and 5 Pacemaker Awards. Green served as the Student Television Network president for eight years. He was named California Teacher of the Year in 2016 and Student Television Network Teacher of the Year in 2021. After retirement in 2022, Doug launched “CHSTV+,” an exchange program where Carlsbad students travel abroad to teach storytelling in diverse cultures. He was also the subject matter expert behind EditMentor’s broadcast curriculum. Doug, welcome to the show Doug Green.
