Strong Over Skinny: Building a Body That Supports the Life You Want with Lacey Bruschke

For years, women have been told that smaller is better. Smaller waist, smaller jeans, smaller number on the scale. But what if the goal was never to become the smallest version of yourself? What if the goal was to become strong enough to actually live the life you want? In this episode, Olivia and Lacey Bruschke talk about what it really means to build strength physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Lacey is a Registered Nurse, NASM-Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, founder of Obsidian® Fitness in Millcreek, Utah, and creator of the Obsidian® Slide Board. With 20 years of experience teaching group fitness and 15 years as a certified personal trainer, Lacey has helped women build strength in a way that is challenging, sustainable, and supportive of their bodies. She created the Obsidian® Slide Board after recognizing the need for a workout that was low impact, high intensity, and accessible for everyone from beginners to skilled athletes. This conversation is not about getting a six-pack, fitting into a certain size, or believing that skinny is wrong. It is about learning how to build a body that supports your life, your energy, your confidence, your nervous system, and your long-term happiness. Olivia and Lacey talk about why strength matters more than the scale, how to approach food and fitness without becoming overwhelmed, what women often misunderstand about lifting weights, how exercise can help regulate your nervous system, and why sustainable health has to be built around what actually works for you. They also discuss meal prep, macros, GLP-1s, hydration, sleep, body image, the pressure women feel to be both tiny and toned, and how to start caring for your body from a place of love instead of punishment. If you have ever felt stuck in the cycle of trying to look better instead of feel better, this episode is for you.
