  1. Wear a Helmet and Don't Be an Idiot: Stewarding the Street

Wear a Helmet and Don't Be an Idiot: Stewarding the Street

The road wasn't put there for you to get to Whole Foods. It’s a thoroughfare for everyone to travel. You have your routes and routines, sure, but so does the next guy. You got to share the street. And you might even do it like a Christian—by blessing others. In the lane itself, across the median, and even on the shoulder. Just deliver those blessings around the clock. Even on holidays. Especially on Christmas.  In this episode, Chris and Kyle draw some lines in the pavement. Simply put, roads were made for cars and trucks. Bicycles are illegal aliens, motorcycles are guests, and mopeds are fugitives who must be apprehended and banned. Regardless of what you drive, don't hog the road, and don't be dumb: stop weaving between cars, wear a helmet, and put on some pants. God forbid you scorch your calf on the muffler.  +  +  Welcome to another episode of Two Pour Spirits. +  +  Two Pour Spirits is a podcast of Project : Neighbor. 2. Stay in Your Lane and Smile: Memos on the Metaphysics of Driving

Stay in Your Lane and Smile: Memos on the Metaphysics of Driving

Our roads and highways are designed and governed with a particular end in sight. A metaphysics, with a telos, if you will. Everything matters—placement, movement, speed, and focus. Each aspect contributes to either the opening of the majestic floodgates of celestial bliss or the ushering in of the flaming brimstone of the infernal regions. Simply put: your steering is either salvific or satanic. Which is it?  In this episode, Chris and Kyle discuss negative neighboring behind the wheel. Like the obvious: quit cutting people off, weaving in and out of traffic, and tailgating. As well as the oblivious: speeding distracts others, and dawdling on the freeway will get someone killed. So get that screen out of your face, have a jovial presence, and turn the other cheek when you're flicked off. Vehicular communion is only a few simple steps away. +  +  Welcome to another episode of Two Pour Spirits. +  +  Two Pour Spirits is a podcast of Project : Neighbor. 3. Wipe the Seat When You're Done: The Christian Art of Using Public Restrooms

Wipe the Seat When You're Done: The Christian Art of Using Public Restrooms

Mothers give the talk beforehand ("don't touch  a  n  y  t  h  i  n  g"). When inside, we tiptoe. We're shocked when we walk into one that isn't reprehensibly hideous. We're surprised when it smells good. But we avoid the ones at the park like the plague, and for good reason: No doubt about it, there's an arachnid setting up shop behind that porcelain. They are pockets of hell on earth—absent of God and absolutely revulsive.  In this episode, Chris and Kyle talk about public restrooms and all of the ways that we "negatively neighbor" others in our usage of them. By not wiping the seat or picking up the paper towel we dropped. By not flushing or cleaning the flung soap off the mirror. Public restrooms are a nasty wilderness, but we don't have to be indecent (Deuteronomy 23:12-14). They can be redeemed. They can be holy places.   +  +  Welcome to another episode of Two Pour Spirits. +  +  Two Pour Spirits is a podcast of Project : Neighbor.
