A History of Fighting in Hockey

Content advisory: serious injury, death, and CTE and its effects on physical and mental health are discussed from 29:04 - 37:38. Please take care and skip if needed. Ready to drop gloves? To date, the NHL is the only major sports league of the Big Four in North America to allow fighting. To find out why, TPD explores the history of fighting in hockey all the way from Canada in the 1890s through to the 2026 Olympics. What exactly does the rulebook say? What about the PWHL and major tournaments? Where did the enforcers come from, and where did they go? And how come it comes back to money again?
