Previously, Dr. Moore served as president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. In 2021, he resigned after years of sustained criticism and threats over his public stance on a number of issues, including his criticism of President Donald Trump during the 2016 election, his comments on race and immigration, and his advocacy for addressing sexual abuse within the SBC.
