Purpose: It’s Staring You in the Face

Let’s start with the statement: The worst day of your life is only 24 hours.  This came out of the mouth of a 20 year-old and it stopped me in my tracks.  Yes, that is so true when you think about it, and a great way to endure hard times.  I marveled at the wisdom of Lawrence C. Harris.  How could he arrive at the kinds of thoughts he shared during our conversation?   Lawrence had emailed me and asked if he could be a guest on the podcast.  I liked that it wasn’t a formulaic request and I could feel his authenticity from afar.   He describes himself as a public speaker, author and advocate for teens and young adults to believe in themselves, think differently about their future, and make better choices.  How empowering is that?   Here is the chat we had.  It’s well worth the listen, and then tell me what you think. You can find Lawrence at lawrencecharris.com. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. Come What May, and Love it - Part 2

Her heart is for the stay-at-home mom.   She wants each one to choose happiness through cleaned up thoughts, and simple strategies.  While it may sound like a tall order Nicole Gardner is well aware of how important the role of mother is in having six herself, and being one of ten.   Since becoming a coach she better understands how we can transform our lives by changing our thoughts which will result in showing up differently, even happier.  Nicole has done the work herself and it changed her life.      Nicole is our guest this week for our series What’s with All the Coaches and Why you Might Want One.  This is part two of our conversation. You can find her on Instagram at Mom Coach Nicole. She has a podcast coming soon called Becoming. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. Come What May, and Love it - part 1

Nicole Gardner is bubbly, energetic and engaging - those would be my three words to describe her.  She is already a certified life coach and is working towards a second certification.   One of the things she keeps handy is the idea that life is 50/50, there’s some good stuff and some that’s not, no matter what.  You get to choose how to look at and it will be transformative if you let it. Her family has a motto, something they say nightly after prayers, Come what may, and love it.  It is all at once hopeful, present-minded and brave not to mention inspirational.  Her clients will definitely get a lot of goodness from working with her. Nicole is our guest this week in our series What’s with All the Coaches and Why you Might Want One.  This is part one of our conversation. You can find her on Instagram at Mom Coach Nicole. You are Perfectly Good at Being Human - part 2

Burnout is real.  Putting too much of ourselves, and our lives, into our careers can make us miss out on the work life balance we need.  Mel Wilson left her job to begin the next chapter of her career, and to restore a happier home.  It was not easy.  It was hard, and it was messy.  But she knew it was the next step.  Mel shares that messy action can build a beautiful life, if you let it.   The thoughts you have around what’s happening can be checked, and even changed.  You can build the future you imagine, the one you actually want. Mel is our guest this week in our series What’s with All the Coaches and Why you Might Want One.  This is part two of our conversation. You can find her at Proof not Perfect or email her at Mel@ Proof not Perfect. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. You are Perfectly Good at Being Human - part 1

She is one RAD woman.  A term from our collective youth, Mel Wilson is the personification of being rad.  Being rad is radical - cool, awesome, great.  Yes, she is all those things and more.  Mel imparted some serious wisdom during our conversation, like: there’s power in owning your thoughts and they are something no one can ever take away from you.  And, our worth is not tied to our results so own your worth.  Those are just the beginning.  I left the conversation feeling full, satisfied and with a deep sense of admiration for all Mel had to say.  She is definitely unapologetic for who she is.  Yes, more of that please for all of us. Mel is our guest this week in our series What’s with All the Coaches and Why you Might Want One.  This is part one of our conversation. You can find her at Proof not Perfect or email her at Mel@ Proof not Perfect. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. What’s the Difference Between Coaching and Therapy?

Coaching is all the rage it seems - there are so many, and all kinds.  They want to come alongside to support and empower us.  And we still have dedicated therapists out there who are ready to help us as well.  But what’s the difference?  When do you want one over the other, or maybe you want both.  Coaching and therapy serve different purposes, and that’s what today’s episode is all about.  It’s like the Venn diagram we learned  about in school.  Different with maybe a bit of overlap in the middle.  Let’s look at both and you can make your own informed decisions. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. If you’d like to receive ongoing inspiration via email, and/ or if you want to attend our monthly FREE webinar, email us at: unabashedyou@gmail.com. In Honor of Tony Hicks

I received heartbreaking news and one of the only things I could think of to do was to ‘rerun’ this episode. You see Tony Hicks was an extraordinary human being and my eyes fill with tears as I write this. His life did not take the trajectory you would think or hope for. As you will hear in our conversation and read in the blog, Tony represents what accountability, forgiveness and restoration look like. And now he has died at age 45. I don’t know any details but they don’t change the fact that he is no longer with us, no longer serving as an advocate for peace. Rest well, Tony. Please. What Comes After - episode 230; originally released 9/3/24 This is what you can do after.  After the hard thing, when you come back to yourself.  You can figure out who you are, who you want to be, and amongst other things, what your superpower is.  Then go be you and do the things that only you can do - to the fullest.  Because ‘after’ you’re still here and that’s gotta mean something.  And it does to this week’s guest.  Tony Hicks is here, and he has the superpower of listening.  He listens with warmth, is respectful and genuinely wants to connect.  Not only does Tony want to connect, he also wants to help.  In his words he finds it extraordinarily satisfying.
