Keeping Her Faith Alive - Part 2

While Taylor Swift may not be her favorite, Rae O’Rourke loves to watch hockey, and is not a fan of sharing her food.  Guess what?  I love how she played 2 Truths and a Lie - very transparent and vulnerable.  Being herself.  Something you get to do too if you tamp down your fears about how you’re showing up.  Rae has been given the gift of patience and she uses it for self-reflection, a helpful tool. Rae internalizes a lot of her actions, and instead of losing her cool in a situation, she tries to put herself in the other people’s shoes, and then she thinks, What can I do differently?  That is the mark of keeping your faith alive.  Love in action. Rae is our guest this week for Spicy Christian Women - Becoming all that and a bag of chips.  This is part two. Thanks for being part of the UY conversation. She Found the Answers - Part 2

Are you allowed to enjoy yourself after a hard thing? In addition to eating a truly memorable meal that was described so well I could almost taste each course, at 1587 Prime* no less, which I’d never heard of before, Paula Romang can enjoy life despite having a son in heaven.  Or maybe it’s because she has a son in heaven that the good things of this life can taste so sweet again.  Like that fabulous meal. She’s given herself permission to experience joy again. Paula sees that one of the greatest gifts God has given her is long-term pain because she learned her faith had to be put into action.  It was, and she not only survived, she thrived.  She had previously believed that if she did all the ‘right things’ she would have this beautiful, smooth life.  Now she understands that hardship and suffering are part of the Christian life.  Paula knows the truth.  She’s found the answers. Paula is our guest this week for Spicy Christian Women - Becoming all that and a bag of chips.  This is part two. You can find Paula at www.paularomang.com. She Found the Answers

There’s no escaping the hard things.  They come whether you want them to or not.  And lots of times you have little or no control over the outcome. In the heaviness of a painful season, sometimes you’re called to do things you didn’t anticipate, and maybe didn’t even want to do. Yet here you are in the midst of it.  The only way out is through.  You put on your big girl pants as they say, and you do the thing as well as you can.    Paula Romang knows this quite well.  She is the mom of twins, and the caregiver to one of them who was born with serious health challenges.  Fighting the good fight as each day was long and arduous, Paula did her best and leaned on her faith to carry her through.  How else could she have done it?  Then the reality of her son’s death at age twelve.  As she shares, in this experience she found answers and her faith remained intact. Thriving in the Barren Place is the book she wrote about this experience, all she learned, and how she persevered. Paula is our guest this week for Spicy Christian Women - Becoming all that and a bag of chips.  This is part one. You can find Paula at www.paularomang.com.
