The parents I wish I had
Let me start off by explaining where I come from, I’m a young transgender adult who wouldn’t touch marriage with an 8 and a half foot pole because their own parents were such a horrible example. Factor that in with horrible homo/transphobia etc., I’m constantly looking for role models. Which is why I give my full endorsement to this amazing podcast. Grace and Lizzie create such a positive space that feels safe and educational. Everything I wish my parents had taught me about growing up queer Grace and Lizzie impart their wisdom on. Thank you both for doing this and stream Preachers Kid on Spotify.
My new best friends
I first got connected to Grace’s work through GCF podcast. Since then, I started following Lizzy as well and just so enjoy this couple! I listen while I’m pumping breast milk (an activity I don’t enjoy... lol) and it feels like chatting with my new best friends. I love the way they invite us in to their everyday, simple life. It’s such a needed balance to the much distorted picture of queer people I got growing up in the church. I love when my four year old listens along and I’m able to share with her that the two women on the podcast are married and for that to be a part of her everyday milieu. I’m not articulating well exactly why I like this podcast but I just think both hosts are so articulate and thoughtful in the way they approach each topic. I also laugh a lot while listening and wish my husband and I could be real life friends with Grace and Lizzy; both women feel like kindred spirits. I love their approach to hospitality, tradition, and celebrating life. Also, Lizzy’s Instagram is food #goals.
Sweet and safe queer content
I first saw Grace and Lizzie on Tiktok and as a queer kid who grew up in the church and has since left it, I felt nervous to engage in religious content, albeit queer. After challenging myself to to listen to Grace’s EP without judgment, I fell down the rabbit hole of all their creative projects, including State of Grace and now this podcast. I can confidently say, everything these two do is amazing! This podcast specifically is such a wholesome space and I love learning about Grace and Lizzie and imagining my own simple queer home life too. I constantly find myself thinking “I wish I could be a part of this conversation” or “I wish I was friends with them and could go over for dinner!” Thank you to the Baldridge’s for sharing so much of themselves and helping soften my queer little heart.
