Toya F

This podcast was created because your host, Toya realized that when we go through things in life that knock us off of our square we tend to withdraw ourselves; thinking that we’re going through a struggle that no one can understand. When in reality, there are so many people who share our experiences. Dealing with the ebs and flows of life stretch across lines of race, gender, age, and even time. But my goal is to reassure you that just how our struggles can be universal, so can our strength. But we’re never too serious to share some “tea”, laughs, and crazy and light stories. That’s why I’m here, that’s why you’ll join the family. Universal Teas; the People’s Podcast.

A central theme of our conversation is confidence—not as something we're born with, but as something we build. In Your Space, Episode 1: Joanna Brooks of Embody Yoga

Send us Fan Mail What does it take to create a space where people can truly feel seen, supported, and embodied? In the premiere episode of the In Your Space series, I sit down with Joanna Brooks, founder and owner of Embody Yoga, a Black-owned and operated yoga and Pilates studio in Milwaukee. Joanna shares her inspiring journey from working as a legal assistant in the traditional 9-to-5 world to building a thriving wellness business rooted in community, healing, and self-discovery. What began as a personal search for something more started with a hot yoga class she almost never returned to after a difficult first experience. Instead of letting discomfort defeat her, she chose to try again—and that decision sparked a passion that would ultimately change the course of her life. Together, we explore the challenges, setbacks, risks, and moments of perseverance that shaped Embody Yoga into the flourishing space it is today. Joanna offers an honest look at entrepreneurship, trusting your intuition, and creating opportunities when none seem to exist. This conversation is a powerful reminder that sometimes the spaces we're called to create begin with the courage to show up for ourselves first. In Your Space is a series highlighting the people, stories, and journeys behind the spaces that shape our communities—exploring how vision, purpose, and persistence transform ideas into places of impact. 🎙️ Listen in for a conversation about resilience, reinvention, entrepreneurship, and the power of finding your path—even when it starts outside your comfort zone. Called to Action and Believing It

Send us Fan Mail What does it really mean to be called? And what does it take to actually move? In this episode, we break down the true meaning of action and unpack what a calling really is. Because having a calling and believing in it are two very different things. I challenge you to first believe that the vision, the nudge, the idea, the pull on your life is real. That it chose you for a reason. Then we talk about building the confidence to actually act on it. So many of us get stuck in awe of how big our calling feels. We freeze because it’s grand. Because the middle is unclear. Because the unknown feels louder than our faith. But you weren’t given potential just to admire it. You were given it to move. This episode is your reminder not to be paralyzed by the magnitude of what you’re meant to do. Have faith in the in-between. Take the step even when you can’t see the staircase. And stop sitting in awe of your potential—bring it into the world so we can be in awe too. It’s time to believe it.  And then act like it.
