Mikaela Mattes

In the Unlocking Education podcast, host Mikaela Mattes will discuss a wide range of topics to help prepare high school students and their parents for the application and transition to college process. This will include discussions around college fit and match, financial aid, scholarships, and navigating relationships on a college campus. Mikaela will also welcome college students, professors, admissions counselors and other content experts on the show to provide a deeper insight as to what prospective students might experience on a college campus. Mikaela received her Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2014 from Washington State University. She has worked as a College Prep Advisor since 2015, primarily serving first generation college bound and low-income families. Mikaela has been awarded the "Whole Child Champion" award by the Tacoma School District, given to educators who, "Provide extraordinary social, emotional, and academic support in ways that benefit students, staff, families and the community. They create a positive school culture that we can all feel, and they make an incredible impact in the lives of students."
