What is Love? Part 2 (Ep. 135)

In this episode, we continue our series, "What Is Love?", by taking a deeper look at the greatest example of love ever demonstrated—God's sacrificial love through the death of Jesus Christ on the cross. Because Christ willingly gave His life for us, we are called to respond by loving God wholeheartedly—with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength—and by loving others with the same selfless, sacrificial love He has shown us. We'll also explore what this kind of love looks like in everyday life, including practical ways to love our neighbors, extend grace, forgive others, and even love our enemies as Christ commands. Key Scripture: Matthew 22:37–40 (NKJV) "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." Join me as we discover how God's perfect love transforms our hearts and empowers us to reflect His love in our relationships and daily walk with Him.   Scriptures to check out: Romans 5:8 Exodus 20:1-17 1 John 5:3 Romans 13:8-10 Matthew 22:36-40 John 13:35 Romans 8:12-39 Ephesians 6:10-18 1 Corinthians 13 Romans 12:1-2 Matthew 5 Matthew 6 Matthew 7:21-28 Matthew 28:16-20 Mark 16:15 John 14:15-31 Luke 6:32-36 1 John 3:16-19 1 John 4:7-21 Romans 12:17-21 Galatians 5:16 Genesis 1:27 2 Peter 3:9 Deuteronomy 4:15-19 1 Thessalonians 1:8-10 Titus 1  2 Corinthians 10:3-5 1 Timothy 4:8 Psalm 139:23-24     Looking for a sports devotional? What is Love? Part 1 (Ep. 134)

In a culture that often redefines love according to feelings, desires, and self-interest, it's easy to confuse love with lust or view love through a selfish lens. But Scripture reveals something entirely different. Love is not merely an emotion—it's a command, a sacrifice, and ultimately a reflection of God's very nature. In this episode, we explore the truth that God is love, as declared in 1 John 4:8, and what that means for our lives as followers of Christ. We'll examine how Jesus perfectly demonstrated love throughout His earthly ministry through His compassion, forgiveness, service, and discipline providing the ultimate example for us to follow. Above all, we'll reflect on the greatest expression of love ever displayed: Jesus willingly laying down His life on the cross for sinners. As Romans 5:8 (NKJV) reminds us, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Tune in and discover how God's love transforms the way we love Him and others.   Scriptures to check out: Romans 5:8 John 3:16 1 John 4:7-21 Luke 23:32-55 Ephesians 4:15 Romans 3:23 Proverbs 24:16 Philippians 2:3-5 1 Corinthians 6:15-20 Galatians 5:22-23 John 1:14 John 8:11 John 21:25 Hebrews 12:6 2 Peter 3:9 Romans 8:31-39     Looking for a sports devotional? The Passive Man (Ep. 133)

In a culture quick to label masculinity, particularly biblical masculinity as “toxic," "misogynistic," or “sexist,” this episode calls Christian men back to biblical courage, humility, and Spirit-empowered leadership. We confront the subtle drift toward passivity and cowardice by examining key passages of Scripture, including Genesis 2–3, where we consider Adam's passive response as Eve ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. We also explore examples of men who demonstrated godly strength and discuss what it looks like for Christian men today to follow the example of Jesus in their homes, churches, workplaces, and everyday lives. Our families need Godly men. Our churches need Godly men. Our communities and systems need Godly men. Now is the time for bold, Godly men to serve, love, and lead well. Tune in for more. Let's Go! "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”                                                             -Revelation 21:8 NKJV    Scriptures to check out: Genesis 2:16-17 Genesis 2:24 Genesis 3:1-13, 16 Galatians 1:10 Matthew 10:27-28 1 Timothy 3 1 Timothy 6:3-6 1 Timothy 6:9-10 2 Timothy 3:1-9 2 Timothy 3:16-17 2 Timothy 4:1-4 James 3:1 Acts 4 John 1:14 1 Corinthians 16:13 1 Peter 3:1-7 Titus 2:1-8 Ephesians 4:15 1 Corinthians 11:3 1 Timothy 5:8 Matthew 6:21 Mark 6:14-29 Ephesians 5:22-33 Deuteronomy 24:1-4 Malachi 2:16 Matthew 19:6-9 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 1 Corinthians 7:1-6 1 Corinthians 7:10-16 1 Corinthians 7:39 Proverbs 13:24 Proverbs 22:6 Proverbs 23:13 Revelation 21:8     Looking for a sports devotional? 13-Year NBA Vet & Co-Founder of Athlegacy, Anthony Tolliver (Ep. 132)

In this episode of Unscripted for Christ, I had a great conversation with former 13-year NBA veteran and Co-Founder of Athlegacy, Anthony Tolliver. Anthony shares his testimony and how his faith in Jesus Christ has guided him throughout both life and basketball. We discuss his athletic journey, including his collegiate career at Creighton University, where his team experienced a memorable season that included winning the Missouri Valley Tournament Championship and earning an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2007. Anthony also shares why he believes academics play an important role in the development and long-term success of student-athletes. Additionally, Anthony reflects on his professional basketball career and what it was like taking an unconventional path to the NBA after going undrafted. He talks about remaining prepared and professional, trusting the process, and embracing opportunities throughout his professional journey. Finally, we discuss Athlegacy, a company that "helps athletes, business owners, and high-net-worth individuals maximize the benefits and opportunities available through life insurance strategies."   For more information about Athlegacy, visit: https://www.theathlegacy.com/   Like the rest of the episodes, this is a prerecorded episode       Credits Powerful Trap Beat | Strong by Alex-Productions | https://onsound.eu/ Music promoted by Background Music Free Download | No Copyright Music - Chosic Creative Commons CC BY 3.0 Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0
