Unscripted with Joel Penton - LifeWise Academy

Joel Penton is a graduate of The Ohio State University and played 5 years of football for the Buckeyes. He was a member of 3 Big Ten championship teams, a member of the National Championship team, and a 4-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
In his senior year, Joel received the prestigious Wuerffel Trophy, also known as the HUMANITARIAN HEISMAN. The Trophy is a national award that recognizes the one college football player in the entire country who best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement. After graduating from OSU, Joel turned down an opportunity to play in the NFL to begin a career in full-time speaking.

In Episode 97, we discuss the 3 impactful brands that Joel has launched. We spend a majority of our time discussing Lifewise Academy and how it is available to every school district. It has been my honor to watch Joel continue to change the score and eternity with his heart for the Lord and students.

Unscripted with Kim Emch - Festa Ministries

Unscripted with Kim Emch - Festa Ministries

Kim is a servant of God because He rescued her. By the time she was 17, she had lived through five divorces by two parents: one being an alcoholic, and one having an affair. She didn’t grow up facing financial poverty, but her home was filled with chaos and pain. But God did not forget her; He rescued her.  He sent people from a local church who invited her every single week to a youth program they hosted. It was full of joy and peace. It was a safe refuge. They cared about her, loved her, and taught her about the Lord. They said,
“Kim, the God of the universe made you and He loves you. You’re gifted and talented.”
“Kim, you’re smart. Have you ever thought of going to college?”
“Kim, you have leadership abilities. We could hone that for you. We can grow that in you and God could use you for his plans for His future.”
They started casting a vision for her of a future where she would use her gifts and talents to serve God.
Episode 96 of the Unscripted Podcast is one-on-one with Kim Emch. She is the Founder and Executive Director of Festa Ministry. Her influence and her calling has changed the scores for so many.
When Kim was called, there were....
2158 children who were in poverty and receiving a free or reduced lunch.
She made a decision to love, serve and feed them (body, mind and spirit).
She made a decision to bring the community with her.
We are so blessed in Hilliard, Ohio to have some one with Kims passion, leadership and drive. Along with her army of volunteers and partners, Festa is literally changing the landscape for those that would otherwise have no where else to go.

Unscripted with Kevin Malone - Former MLB GM of the Year

Kevin Malone, named “the Best General Manager in the Game,” retired from professional baseball in 2001 after serving as the Executive Vice President and General Manager of the L.A. Dodgers. During his illustrious 17-year career, Kevin learned all aspects of the business of baseball after being drafted by the Cleveland Indians to play in the NY-Penn League, working for the California Angels, Minnesota Twins, and Montreal Expos, and then serving as Assistant General Manager of the Baltimore Orioles, as General Manager of the Montreal Expos, and finally the Los Angeles Dodgers. Under his leadership, his teams earned a World Championship and several trips to the postseason.
Since retiring, Kevin worked for Sporting News Radio, Fox Sports (Network Baseball Analyst) and ESPN’s Baseball Tonight (Network Trade Analyst.) After completing three years of serving at the Master’s College in Los Angeles, in 2005, Kevin began a start-up business venture as an owner of the new Mercedes-Benz of Valencia dealership in Los Angeles.
Now, Kevin has dedicated his life to working as an Abolitionist, using his talents, experiences and relationships to fight for the eradication of child sex slavery. Kevin is the founder of Protect the PATH (People Against Trafficking Humans) and President/Co-Founder of the United States Institute Against Human Trafficking. Both ministries are committed to ending the sex slavery of minors in American cities, communities, and neighborhoods by bringing awareness, prevention, rescue assistance, and restoration to children. Kevin believes that all people are called to seek justice, rescue the oppressed, and defend the orphan. He lives to quote Edmund Burke, “all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing!”
Kevin is actively involved in numerous ministry and charitable organizations including Inner City Visions and Hope for Israel. A man of varied interests, he served as Executive Producer on two films: “Like Dandelion Dust” and “Faith of Our Fathers.” Now, Kevin’s full-time focus is fighting human trafficking in LA, Florida, and Internationally. Thoughtful, deep interviews

Aaron does a tremendous job bringing in diverse voices to interview to learn about what makes them tick. I can’t wait for each episode!

Engaging. Honest. Real.

Unscripted is one of the best podcasts I have listened to. Aaron does a marvelous job of hosting this gem by initiating the conversation and then getting out of the way so his guests can tell their story. I also enjoy how diverse his guests are ranging from sports, education, pastors, authors, his daughter and the list goes on. Unscripted is great for my ears and even better for my spirit.

Jeromy Rose ,
