We are deeply honored to feature Nicole Moore-Abeyta LCSW on this week's pod. Nicole shared a beautiful, sacred letter to her daughter, "who became a wild ass ancestor on January 1st 2024 at approximately 3am", on stage at our Parenthood Edition in May of 2024. Nicole is a multidisciplinary artist, Somatic, Holistic and Art Therapy Clinician, community member, business owner, forever student of the cosmos, everyday life, and an ancestral medicine keeper. She has held space in the Denver metro community for 15 years and continues doing healing work, being healed by others, and reciprocating all the support she receives. The pair mix heartfelt storytelling, humorous observations, poetry, original songs, classic covers, and the occasional pop quiz trivia question to create interactive, intimate experiences for audience members of all ages and backgrounds. Their songs tackle a sundry of subjects, from panic attacks to cats, and are meant to address even the heaviest topics with a touch of levity, with the intention of creating a space where we can transmute the chaos and despair into something both useful and beautiful. This Is Just How Church Works

(Toe-loo-wah-nee-mee Oh-bee-whoa-lay) We are thrilled to have Toluwanimi Obiwole on the pod this week! Toluwanimi is a Nigerian multidisciplinary artist who explores her art through poetry, visual art, curation and textile production. She is a seasoned storyteller, poet and visual artist with a dedication to re-indigenization, intergenerational healing and cultural memory keeping. She was the former Youth Poet Laureate for the State of Colorado and has received awards for DEI storytelling from the University of Colorado Boulder. She is a two time TEDx speaker, has published a book of poems with Penmanship Books in New York City and has been published in Haymarket Books' most recent iteration of The Breakbeat Poets. Her practice as a storyteller has opened the door for her to introduce poetic storytelling methods to people who otherwise would not engage with poetry. We're honored to feature Naomi Savas on the pod this week! Naomi is a 26-year-old queer woman from Metro-Detroit, Michigan. She worked very hard on her unsent with a full heart. Naomi has navigated depression, anxiety, and a late-life ADHD diagnosis, and this was her very first time stepping onto a stage to share her story. With courage and pride, she opened up about her journey of sexuality — a journey of self-discovery, resilience, and reclamation of her sexual energy. Mahogany Imani, a slightly inappropriate poet for the past decade, strives to create safe spaces for other queer and trans folk to gather, unapologetically cackle, take up space, and talk their shit, disrespectfully. Mahogany's work can be described as a "celebratory self expóse" as one will never get anything but authentic originality from Imani's eclectic pieces. Buckle in and let’s have some fun, kiddos.
