    Steve Peat - Trackside. From racer to role model and head coach of the Santa Cruz Syndicate team.

    Trackside, the latest Shimano Originals short film by Anthill Films, uncovers the winning formula of one of the greatest downhill mountain bike teams of all time: the Santa Cruz Syndicate. After struggling with retiring from racing, legend and Head Coach Steve Peat continues to steer the ship into a new format this season while preserving the Syndicate's secret sauce. Listen to the full interview. Steve Peat is a downhill mountain bike racer from Sheffield, England. Peaty has 17 UCI World Cup wins and 3 overall UCI DH wins. We meet up with him for a film project called Trackside for Shimano to talk about how his role has changed from racing world cups to now being a mentor for established and new racers. The Santa Cruz Syndicate team consists of Greg Minnaar, Nina Hoffman, Laurie Greenland and Jackson Goldstone. So we discuss his role with these racers and explore what the Syndicate is. For us she defines the word of progression in the sport and we got to film with here for a Shimano "make your mark" video. She gets into how working on power moves is what opened up her riding possibilities and gives some great tips on how to approach features that you feel might be beyond your current level.     Thomas Genon - Riding on water - Bike Kingdom video - part2

    “In truth I F#%ing hate water” Tommy G talks about the BikeKingdom video filmed in Switzerland where he had to ride on water, which he hated every second of. He explains how he learns tricks including the 9 step program to backflips. Thomas also explains a hearing problem he has suffered his whole life and how dealing with it has made him who he is. 1 month living in a small town called Parpan in Lenzerheide surrounded by the Swiss Alps.     Emil Johansson talks mental strength and how to pick tricks. Competition riding and Return to Earth.

    We hit him pretty hard with some big questions and Emil takes them head on: He contemplates: “Whats inside me that makes me push myself further, even though the risk gets bigger?…” Emil breaks down how he approaches his trick selection for competition and how this compares to shooting films. And talks about how all he could think about during school was riding bikes: “ I didn’t really like school, I thought it was a waste of time” But he stills sees the importance of getting his qualifications and already has put his school knowledge to use.     Thomas Genon is a Slopestyle athlete from Belgium.  He broke onto the scene winning Red Bull Joyride at Crankworx. We talk to him on location in Hawaii about how he is enjoying camp life on the island of Oahu.     Ryan Howard -Mountain biking as a career and teaching groms.

    We kick off the series talking to R-dog. one of the most stylish riders on a bike. As a sound designer, Ryan is one of my favourite athletes to work with, as he gets me plenty of sounds. He shreds berms at crazy speeds, forcing the tire to fold and create unique sounds. But he also just clearly loves to ride a bike which always puts the whole crew in a good mood.
