It Works Automagically - Distros, Desktops, and FUSE

This week we hop from Wubuntu to Cosmic to Ubuntu LTS, and cover NVMe over TCP, continuous profiling, Pipewire cameras, and Krita. There's a couple new Open Source code drops, and finally FUSE lands a killer speedup for kernel 6.9. We had a quick roundtable about the killer features of our favorite desktops, and then the tips were all about filesystems and disk management, with cfdisk looking great, a whole list of disk cloning tools to choose from, and how to use pvresize to continue our task of resizing a VMs hard drive. Linux in Bing Mode - Open GPUs, Canonical, and NTFS

Linux in Bing Mode - Open GPUs, Canonical, and NTFS

Happy 20th Birthday to Canonical, let's give OpenSuse and Warp a spin, and NTFS might get dropped from the kernel! Both AMD and Nvidia are making strides in opening more GPU code, there's a killer Linux laptop for real power users, and it might be time to retire the older NTFS driver from the Linux kernel. There's Wayland, desktops, and plenty more! For tips we have puter going open source, parted for growing your virtual partitions, dosage for keeping track of medication, and test for scripting goodness. Gnome Goes VRRRR - HDMI, FreeSync and Pingora

Gnome Goes VRRRR - HDMI, FreeSync and Pingora

This week it's all about video connections. HDMI 2.1 is dead to us, DisplayPort is the future, and dongles are the temporary solution. Freesync is dead-ish, and long live VRR. How much difference does X86_64_v4 make? How about AMD's new c cores? Then there's Pingora, the new nginx killer from Cloudflare; a bit of depressing news about native Linux games on Steam, and our favorite guilty pleasure GUI tool. For tips we have last for tracking logins, a Gnome extension for monitoring AirPods; Warehouse for managing flatpacks, and qemu-img as a first step to resizing a VM drive. You can find the show notes at https://bit.ly/3T1dkF1 and Happy Linuxing!

It's another Snap and Flatpak shootout, a new release of DreamWorks MoonRay, and Google Open Sources Magika. The MariaDB corporation is struggling, KDE has a new Slimbook, and we hate to hate on NVIDIA . For tips we have theme.sh for console theming, Tbmk for bookmarking command tips, tmux -- THE Terminal Multiplexer, and git update-index to get VSCode to leave you alone.

DSL is back, but it's bigger! There's a CUDA implementation for AMD, The Linux Topology code is getting cleaned up, and there's a bit of a tussle over who's the first to ship KDE 6. Nginx forks over a CVE, AMD has new chips, and Asahi is beating Apple on OpenGL. For tips there's zypper for package management, cmp for comparing files, UFW for firewall simplicity, and a quick primer on how Wine handles serial ports! Great long form discussions

All the other Linux podcasts are short or it is one guy rambling on about what is in the news. The Untitled Linux show is a fun group of guys discussing Linux news, experiences, and tips for one and a half to two hours every week.
