Dr. Syed-Abdul’s research on artificial intelligence and the internet of things in healthcare focuses on long-term care of the elderly and predicting and managing chronic disease. Dr. Syed-Abdul holds a position as a full professor at TMU’s Graduate Institute of Biomedical Informatics, as well as a Plum Blossom card issued by the government of Taiwan in recognition of work that has made a special contribution to Taiwan. He has been active with the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party since his teens, and recently served as leader of the party’s youth arm, Communications Director, and Young Labour President.
