    Women Navigating the City

    The Urban Voices podcast, brought to you by the European Urban Knowledge Network (EUKN), is a platform of knowledge-sharing on all matters related to sustainable urban development and national urban policies. In the third episode of Urban Voices, the moderator and EUKN's Communications and Policy Officer, Adela Hankus, speaks to Elisabeth (Els) Enhus, professor emeritus of criminology who specialises in research on the relationship between the city, space, place and crime, fear of crime and prevention. The topic of the conversation is broadly the safety of cities and public spaces, and more specifically how women navigate urban areas and what makes them feel more or less safe. A number of recommendations for policymakers and city planners are provided in the second half of the podcast with a strong encouragement to include more women in decision-making and sharing their experiences to inform inclusive urban development.  This theme was also tackled during the EUKN's Policy Lab for Belgium during which a number of speakers shared their knowledge on women's safety and patterns of moving around cities.  Listen to the full episode to find out more!
